Olympus 75mm shipping in Europe.

I hope the upcoming 17mm f/1.8 lens will not take so long before to ship like it happened with the great 75mm lens. At least we Europeans can finally find the lens in Stock (the lens was first displayed in February!). You can find it in Stock at Amazon Germany (Click here), Amazon UK (Click here), [shoplink 33362 ebay]Photo Video France (Click here)[/shoplink], [shoplink 33363 ebay]Fotoexperte (Click here)[/shoplink], [shoplink 33364 ebay]SRSmicrosystem (Click here)[/shoplink], [shoplink 33365 ebay]Mike Kelly (Click here)[/shoplink]. A cheap hood for the lens gets sold by [shoplink 33366 ebay]ProPhotoshop Germany (Click here)[/shoplink].

Some new image samples have been posted at Zuikoholics.

  1. But no lens hoods, not included, not available yet.

How difficult can it be to at least make the lens hoods available at the same time as the lens (not to mention batteries for E-M5)

    1. “(not to mention batteries for E-M5)”

I’m waiting for a second battery for 4 months…I don’t want a third party one because I want to use only one charger…

      1. Yup it really sucks. I had to order third party ones for my trip. BTW they suck, not as good as the oem.

I finally ordered an oem battery from Amazon US. Why it’s priced more than a Canon battery? I don’t know. Well ok! It’s an Olympus I guess.

Performance is bad, had to have a second battery because it wouldn’t get through a whole day of usage (mostly the OLED, which is amazing in sunlight).

      2. Get Wasabi battery and charger…you can charge the Wasabis and the Oly battery in the Wasabi charger (but not vice versa). They are high quality Japanese batteries. I have them for my OMD and my GX1. Chager includes car charging attachment, and Euro coverter, too! Beats buying the Oly battery, by price, quality and versatility.

        1. I have the Wasabi’s and they don’t last as long as the Olympus from my experience. I always grabbed the Oly one first due to this reason. Wasabi is great when you have no choice, but otherwise I prefer my batteries to give me the best performance.

          1. Hmmmm…interesting. I find the Wasabi performance equal to the OEM battery in both my GX1 and my OM-D. Really no difference.

  2. I received the 75/1.8 yesterday (Europe). Lots of glass :-). Very quick AF, very sharp.Color of metal looks like that of the 12/2, so I don’t think there is much variation between the two.

    1. Do you have the 12? It looks to me closer to the 45’s shade of silver actually. I could be wrong about it.

I have the 12 in front of me and it isn’t silver.

  3. Again I have to praise this lens for it’s sharpness in such long focal length .
Love this lens so much .
Just try some indoor shots , impressive .
If Oly or Pana can further improve it’s m4/3 sensors to cope with this lens ,
It will be huge achievement in m4/3 image quality .
Please come out 150mm / 300mm with such performance , surely I’ll be the first to order .

  4. This is probably the most boring camera rumors site right now. More than 1 hrs and only 4 comments. With Sony announcing the A99,Nex-6 and RX1 and Nikon announcing the D600, there is not a single mft cameras in sight to counter the thunder from Sony or Nikon. If Sony has launched an interchangeable RX1 with 3 primes, I would have jump ship. This coming from a mft user.

    1. You cannot counter the thunder from Sony or Nikon because they are in a different league, and it is no thunder because they are mostly toys anyway.

  5. Well… im a bit lost here. I was waiting for gh3 for video purpose and now with all these new cameras announcements im confused as to what to buy…

    1. There was never a six month waiting list for the 75/1.8. I placed my preorder in May and received my 75/1.8 in July. And there are plenty of others with a similar experience. Too much disinformation is being repeated over and over here at this site.

  6. I don`t get the amazon price. 899.- US-Dollar should be 696 EUR- instead of selling it for the same Dollar-EUR price it`s even more expensive than 899.- EUR.

        1. Let’see some of your masterpieces mahler. With that moster they are certainly going to get even better. Make us normal guys laugh.

  7. I have had this lens for over a month now and it is amazing, truly exquisite to use….150mm (equivalent) is quite daunting and i should use it more….it doesn’t have a hood, but you ca get the Olympus genuine ones easy enough
