Is this the first image of a prototype X-PRO2, shared by Fuji X photographer Max de Martino?

 photo unnamed_zps7v8dbjjl.jpg

UDPATE: THE TRUTH: It’s an April’s fool Trick. The guys behind this funny joke told me yesterday that they’d appreciate the support of FujiHumors… and I hate to be the spoilsport 😉 .

X-PRO2 Leaked?

I share it as I’ve received it via twitter here… the image was shared by Max De Martino, an official Fuji X Photographer over at his website maxdemartino.com. It shows a (pretty blurred) image of what could be the Fujifilm X-PRO2. We can read:

“A friend of mine (we will call him Mr. Ma Ni), from Japan, sent me this stolen picture of the new Fuji X-Pro2. The quality is not good, but it looks to be a working prototype.

Some specifications he say could be true, he received from a man at Fujifilm:

  • 4k Video
  • Sensor 10% bigger than the previous one, so that you can use the “old” lenses, with a crop factor of 1.2x
  • Processor EXR IV
  • Dual Sd
  • 27 Mpx
  • Magnesium and anticorodal alloy
  • Hibryd viewfinder (as X100T, but with X-T1 dimensions)
  • LCD that twist & tilt
  • Radio TTL control of Fuji, Profoto and Nicephoto flash
  • Radio (manual) control of Nikon and Canon speedlights, with an optional adapter
  • Customizable versions they called “Sakana” with lizard, iguana and shark skin.
  • Chanel Limited Edition: shark skin white colored with black details, in a limited edition of 31 pieces, as the first Chanel boutique, in Paris, Rue Cambon 31.

  1. I hope this is not April’s Fool. A crop factor of 1.2X with the existing lenses sounds really great. Also the faster processor and the bigger viewfinder are nice assets. Can’t wait for more info on that! Thanks, Patrick!

  2. Sensor 10% bigger than the previous one, so that you can use the “old” lenses, with a crop factor of 1.2x with 27mpx would be really really awsome!!! looking forward to it.. 🙂

  3. Really want to believe it’s all true (except that twist n’ tilt lcd), but we all know what day it is.

  4. if it says come with LCD that twist & tilt then that picture is fake cause its soo flat … look at the height of the left button compare to the lcd panel, its flat …

  5. Really amazed that some folks fell for this one! Lost me at point 2 – 10% bigger sensor? What possible reason would there be? If you are going bigger you go FF with a crop factor for existing lenses. That said, I’m confident it will not happen on a Fuji MILC, maybe on a new X100 version, but not otherwise.

    1. As noted it is April 1!
Crop factor for APS-C film cameras was actually 1.25.
That is also about max the current lenses still could cover, albeit with a bit soft and dark corners for some lenses.
As long as Fujifilm not plan to go full frame putting a full frame sensor inside would be much more expensive than using a slightly larger APS-C sensor.

  6. 4k video makes no sense at all. 1st April for sure. A10% bigger sensor? Really? Is it an ASP-? sensor? Makes no sense also. Radio control do Nikon and Canon speedlights? LOL. Sure… “Chanel Limited Edition: shark skin white colored with black details, in a limited edition of 31 pieces, as the first Chanel boutique, in Paris, Rue Cambon 31.”LOLOLOLOL Sounds legit to me LOLOL

  7. Beside the strange specifications, the picture may be real – look at the EV compensation deal – it’s +/-3

    1. Also note the red video recording button, the move of the Fujifilm logo, possible redesign of viewfinder to allow a bigger LCD, that now seem to be a bit thicker as it is tiltable.

  8. On any other day my inner fanboy might be excited. Now I’ll cross this off the list and see what the rest of the Internet pranksters have for in store for this year.

  9. You should have said a 1.4x sensor (i.e. 01/04/2015 dd/mm/yyyy).

Would love the real XPRO2 to have a square sensor though!

  10. Leica sells the Lenny Kravitz Correspondent Edition,

Safari (looks great in my opinion)
    http://leicarumors.com/2015/03/06/leica-m-p-typ-240-safari-and-correspondent-limited-edition-camera-kits-now-shipping.aspx/

    and the 60 year Edition,
    http://leicarumors.com/2015/03/11/surprise-leica-m-edition-60-is-still-available-six-months-after-announcement.aspx/

as well as the Hermes Edition,
    http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/10/leica-hermes-m9-p/

Now how would you like the X-Pro2 to dress up?
Chanel Version (yes, it’s for real!)
Sharkskin (fishy, can you stand the smell?)
Lady Gaga Edition? (For extravagant photographers)
Stevie Wonder Edition? (For blind photographers)

    1. “Leica sells the Lenny Kravitz Correspondent Edition…”

Yeah, the price on that; there’s your April Fool’s joke right there.

  11. Well – the message from De Martino is dated 31.03.2015 NOT 01.04.2015 – It could be something or not – I just remember a Fujifilm official saying some time ago, it should be worthwhile to WAIT for the X-Pro2 – what I think is a good advice.

  12. I see some April Fools stuff mixed with possible actual info. I’m calling April Fools on the pic, 27 mpx and larger sensor. Everything else sounds legit, and actually I wouldn’t be surprised if the pic was real, though I do doubt it’d say x-Pro 2 on it, as I’d expect there to be several working prototypes completed for testing. The trick is to know which prototype is moving forward.

  13. Something is not clear. If the sensor has a surface 10% larger (i.e. 1.1 times the area of an APS-C sensor) then the linear dimesions of the sensor are the square root of 1.1 which is about 1.05 longer/higher than APS-C. In this case the crop factor would be much less than 1.2x. The only way I can (partially) reconcile the numbers above is that the linear dimensions are 10% longer to which corresponds an area of 1.1^2 = 1.21 larger than APS-C (close enough to 1.2). But alas, also in such case the crop factor should be smaller than 1.2x. Hmmmm!

  14. The *real* payoff for this joke will come when the features people claim as “I knew it was a joke when I saw ______” turn out to actually BE in the released camera.

  15. Hi everybody! It was a nice joke. Some of you understand it from the beginning, others don’t, but who knows how many of these features will be in the next Fuji?
Thanks to the friends of FujiRumors that have been intelligent enough to understand the april fools, but kind enough to relaunch it. Thank to Junio Intermodo (www.intermodo.net) that is the creator of the fake image and, if you want to see some interesting thing (don’t believe me on the 1st of april!), my website is http://www.maxdemartino.com and my blog is maxdemartinocom.wordpress.com
See you soon and let’s smile!
P.s.: the shark skin is used for watch strap and is really waterproof 😉

    1. “Thanks to the friends of FujiRumors that have been intelligent enough to understand the april fools”

Because people that didn’t get your/the joke are not intelligent. such a patronizing comment you made here.

  16. Would have been funny and obvious on April 1, but should be removed now that it’s April 2…the half-life of April-fools pranks lasts one day.
