The big Fuji X-series firmware updates are now ready to be downloaded at the Fujifilm Support Page here.
The biggest update is definitely the one for the Fujfilm X-T1… X-T1 owners can bascially download, for free, a complete new camera. X-E2 owners will get Classic Chrome, Interval timer shooting, WiFi remote control and a new (and very useful) AF+MF function. The latter update is available also for X-E1 and X-PRO1.
And now, dear X-shooters, download the new firmware and get acquainted quickly with the new features of your camera… X-mas is near, and you should be ready to take advantage of the new potential of your X-series camera.
And to Fujifilm just this: thank you. It’s an amazing X-mas present 🙂
– FUJIFILM X-T1 : Version 3.00
– FUJIFILM X-E2 : Version 3.00
– FUJIFILM X-Pro1 : Version 3.40
– FUJIFILM X-E1 : Version 2.40
To learn more about the new features coming with this big firmware update, read Rico’s trilogy, Using AF+MF, Using Camera Remote and X-T1 Firmware Version 3.00.
NOTE: If you have problems to see the new firmware versions, then you probably have to clean the cache! The easiest way is described in Rico’s X-pert corner post “Tips for Updating your Firmware”: “just delete your browser cache or force your browser to reload and refresh the page by, for example, holding the Alt or Option key while clicking on Reload.”

downloading ……very slow , the whole world of fuji users must be downlaoding concurrently …..=.=
downloading ……very slow , the whole world of fuji users must be downlaoding concurrently …..
Just downloaded and installed 3.40 on my X-Pro 1. Works fine. After you instal it, you do need to go into your menu settings and activate the “af + mf” option.
Yep. Same here. Works fine.
Nice additional feature.
Got them for my XE2 and XT1… I want to thank Fuji for this, it is a real pleasure to be served by a product team that never stops injecting value into my purchases 🙂 I have only one question, and Fuji feel free to hear it as a constructive criticism, but why Santy Clause, why… why can’t I shoot with EVF and auto view (chimp) with LCD like on ALL your other beautiful cameras? This really is a huge peeve for us XE2 owners! But otherwise… gawd I love these cameras 😀
Yes, the View Mode on X-E2 is still worse than all other models. And I wish they’d made its Macro button reprogrammable, so I could make the AF button consistent between my X100s and it. But other than that, thank you, thank you, thank you, Fuji
Please let us know if the center pin fires when using the electronic shutter for those of us using manual flash due to new firmware, this will cement my decision to upgrade to X-T1 (or better) next year, thanks!
Just upgraded my X-T1. In my brief test with a Pocket Wizard Plus 3, it fires in mechanical shutter but does not in electronic shutter. Sorry.
Thanks for testing, Leggnet. Que lastima.
Flash and electronic shutter do not go together technically.
flash is not functional with electronic shutter
There ya go!
Thanks Fuji! Many Thanks!!!
so no manual focus on video ? or am i doing something wrong ?
It has both manual and auto if you want.
How do I engage manual focus in video mode ? I shoot with a 56 1.2
Simply turn the AF to manual.
Thank you !
Just upgrade. Generally I am very happy and that’s exactly why I choose Fuji. They really listen to the customers and do something to upgrade. (Of course it is impossible to let everyone happy, but well, I think most of them are happy now.) Some of my personal comment:
1, The Electronic Shutter makes the X-T1 very different from previous firmware. Although there is limitations, but the 1/32000s – 1s basically covers most of the usual S mode use. Turning the shutter sound of makes this camera can be where traditional DSLR can not – such as a chamber music concert.
2, AF+MF is not new for DSLR user, and I never used it anyway… but this with focus peak function, can be quite useful, especially for still life job.
3, Direct selection of AF area is very useful for me, as a DSLR user, the original selector button just drove me crazy.
4, Q menu customization. This was raised by many users, and it comes today. It make the camera much, much easier to use!
5, Natural Live View function. Well, this one… just as introduced in fujirumor article, is not that attractive. I can not see the difference after switched it on. Also this term is very confusing: what is ‘natural’? I guess it wants to reproduce OVF style, but simply removing of special effects and improving dynamic range is not that ‘Natural’…
6, PC Tethering. This function move FUJI one more step to professional photography. I use PC tethering A LOT with my Nikon. But… the software is not ready now so we can say nothing about it, and… it seems not free? I just hope the software compatibility can be good, for example, if Lightroom can support Fuji camera it would be great. Please make sure the connection is stable, not like D800 with LR… Also, Fuji should sell more AC adapter with this software because the power consumption can be more challenging.
7, LCD/EVF color? It gets confusing again – I think it is wrong in the detail of the update. It said ‘adjust the hue’, I really don’t think it is hue, it may be the saturation. If it changes the hue, human skin will become blue if we change this setting. Even for saturation, it is very subtle and I can not see too much difference.
8, More video frame rates options are great. I am not sure anyone would use X-T1 for short movie, or maybe in the future there will be, but definitely this update makes many people happy.
In all, I think Fuji make the camera much better, with the new lense, now I am more and more certain, this X-T1 may replace (some function of) my working Nikon DSLR! Keep going Fuji! I will throw more money to you!
Installed. Took a few silent pictures with the ES. Very nice. I’ll have a good testing session later today with my X-T1 Mk II.
Thank you Fuji! This generous firmware upgrade is very very appreciated. Continuous support is one of the main reasons why I prefer your cameras.
i just upgraded my x-e2, i was afraid the AF+MF would be cumbersome to use from the sneak descriptions so far, but it works like a charm, quick and accurate, many thanks, fuji-sans.
Yay manual video control! why can’t all the fuji cameras have this? my x100 would be a lot more versatile with it.
Is your xt1 manual focusing in video mode ?
Is it just me or did AF get substantially faster? My 56 focuses a lot faster.
My lenses too, it feels working better and faster – maybe there are really the better algorythms from the X100T implemented.
I thought so too, but haven’t done a comprehensive test. Perhaps 20%-30% faster in low light, on some situations? I have enabled the spot metering interlocking.
I have noticed faster AF with my 56 as well !
Has anyone figured out how to customize Q menu? Thanks
Never mind, got it. For those interested, Menu > Blue3, Edit/Save Quick Menu
Or simply hold the Q button…
Isn’t this not a bit too much fanboyism? How many times did Fuji adjust the ‘precision of the bright frame’ in the X-Pro1? Listening to customers? This is after 2.5 years still rework on a not very well conceived firmware. And this camera is still an extremely quirky, strange beast to operate. Competition does things (mostly) first time right, Fuji required a dozen updates to get the X-Pro1 into a ‘more or less’ working concept. It only shows how difficult ‘all electronic fly by wire-concepts’ can get. Or once again, how disruptive a love-hate relationship can get.
Which competition with an electronic rangefinder are you talking about exactly?
Ann tell me, what’s the advantage of having ‘full’ electronic rangefinder? Quirks? Fly by wire? Slow AF? Shutter lag? Responsiveness? A concept requiring you to keep on the FW-hassle to get things finally working, forcing you to replace bodies and likely also those (expensive) lenses after only a few years? This system has been conceived a bit too much by electronic hardware specialists & programmers – that has been the issue from day 1.
Very satisfying upgrade – still hope that the X-Pro 2 will get a 1/8000 (or better) mechanical shutter, but this ES is very helpful.
Electronic shutter redout speed looks like 1/15s. It’s quite marginal result.
What does that mean? Read out to EVF? Or smth else? Let’s say the shutter spedd is 1/500s, how can a readout be 1/15s. I’m confused )
Um … at first the ES worked great. Now it makes a chirp when I press the shutter. Does anyone else have this issue?
Never mind. I guess Silent Mode must be ON for ES to be silent.
Still learning with this new upgrade!
…or you could go into the sound settings and turn it off there, so you don’t have to be in silent mode, which disables the assist light and flash too (both of which can be toggled elsewhere as well).
This chirp is a default sound effect, you can turn it off in the sounds menu.
Thanks!
I downloaded and tested all functions on XT1. This. Is. Great. It is like having bought an XT2. Practically all things we asked are there …. now if only I could use at the same time the new “Direct selection of AF area” and “Direct selection of Macro mode” …. mmmm! (Fuji MCEX 16mm on its way for tomorrow, I will publish a review soon).
Thanks Patrick for the firmware update details. I must be happy with what I have, even though it’s hard to hide my mixed feelings. Indeed, X-T1 is already a fantastic camera and, as you’ve said, X-T1 users will download a new camera. So it seems to me this new X-T1 will be like a spaceship (better than Millenium Falcon and the Star Destroyer), while my X-Pro1 (the ex-Fujifilm flagship) feels like an old VW Golf.
Hey…the new Vw Golf TDI was recently named Motor trend car of the year……I have driven my friends Golf…it is a diesel version and while it is not the sportiest looking car…it is a lot of fun to drive…but yes …I do get your point…maybe that X-Pro 1 is more like a VW Rabbit
I’d say it’s a VW beetle (the original). Simple, slow, but unsurpassed classic and the cradle of a successful car-giant.
And actually a child of Porsche. 😉
Right! Great design, big footprint in history, but a slow and old machine. The Beetle and the X-Pro1.
:)), well, it’s not that I don’t like my X-Pro1. It’s gorgeous – design, color, ergonomy, shape, size, grip. But Fujifilm almost forgot about it. Kaizen is almost perceptible for X-Pro1. When I see how many pics are out of focus and AF is so slow… you know my point.
Well two things to remember: 1) the XPro has already been massively updated from launch. Frankly at launch it was a barely useable camera. Now it’s a quite nice machine with MUCH better AF than it started with.
2) The X-Pro has a really slow image processor. It can’t handle a lot of the new features and it doesn’t have Wi-Fi or phase detect pixels so it is very constrained by its internal hardware.
Well, you’re right. But, if that firmware update for X-Pro1 was massive, this one for X-T1 is galactic.
any discussions on pros – cons of using Electronic Shutter ?
Electronic shutter pros:
– Silent shutter
– Works at wide open apertures when it’s really bright without needing an ND filter (f/1.2 and f/1.4 lens users rejoice!)
Cons:
– Movement can cause a rolling shutter / “jelly” effect in both stills and video
Also incompatible with flash.
Any incompatibilities with other functions ?
Both ES and MS+ES are incompatible with Flash and with AF-C tracking. I hope Fuji will fix both of those soon!
I thought X-T1 didn’t even have real AF tracking of objects
I don’t believe it can be fixed as they explained it from day one when they started talking about ES on other bodies
What about M+E option ?
Hi Garret, do you or anyone knows at what “equivalent” speed it will start to appear? it 1/60, so shooting people will be an issue, 1/125, so shooting moving people… 1/500 shooting sports… sort of? 😛 I hope you get what I mean… on what kind of movements you are safe using it and when and with what sort/speed of movements you will be getting the problem? Because if it is only with helicopters as images explaining rolling effect it’s not a real issue, but I think it starts happening at much slower speeds.
Thanks!
I saw it happening on much lower speeds: cars, even kids running very close to the camera where the apparent speed (ie relative to the camera) was fairly high
Con: No flash, even with mechanical + electronic.
Great update!! Just in time for my holiday trip so I am looking forward to playing with this, thanks Fuji! X100S next please 🙂
Can someone please explain what the different settings in Q menu do in regards to Highlight, Shadow, Color? Also, what settings is everyone using for their classic chrome sims?
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=x100s+highlight+shadow+setting
For discussions like that I strongly suggest a Forum. Like fujixspot.com or fujix-forum.com.
Most people will be using the standard setting for classic chrome because it is the standard setting for a reason. A custom setting kind of loses its appeal if everybody is using the same setting.
yes x100s next plz!
Raw iso 100 ! come on Fuji..
It’s there already: set to ISO200 and turn EC to +1. Won’t get any closer than that without a new sensor.
why should i use the EC when i want lower iso ? i want real iso 100, i dont Think you need a new sensor when i can shoot iso 100 in jpeg format. (on the x-t1)
Iso 100 in jpeg mode isn’t on-sensor iso 100, it’s in fact iso 200 with some processing…
Minimum ISO on those sensor is ISO 200 and you won’t get better image at ISO 100 if it’s processed from ISO 200.
thx 🙂
they can call it Iso 100\200\300\400 or 52000. Iso is not real anymore!!!!
Because that is what the camera does when you set it to jpg and ISO100. Overexpose and then pull it in post.
I know I’m only a poor old X100 user, but I’d love classic chrome too please. It would not stop me buying an X100T when I have the money, surely it’s technically possible?
X-M1 here. Classic chrome and wifiremote are my wishes 😉
yes I’m sure it’s technically possible, but the original x100 uses a completely different sensor so instead of just modifying it they would have to re-do classic chrome from the ground up to get it to work. While all these updates are great, at some point they’re just not able to support every single camera they’ve ever had due to the time and money it would take.
X100s users are still waiting for an autofocus update to X100T performance, since the hardware is exactly the same on both.
No happy xmas for them!
+1
I moved on Fuji for its policy of customer care and the continuous updates of firmware, even on older cameras.
Now I hope that fuji does not become like all the other camera manufacturers… WE WANT FIRMWARE UPDATE FOR X100S, please
+1
Fuji would be stupid to do that thought. I love free firmware don’t get me wrong. But why would fuji update the X100s to make it the same as the x100t? But unrealistic I think…
Are there any informations about a x100s Firmware update? Will fuji just delay it to protect the x100t (get some more sales from upgraders; they seem to be the target group of the x100t based on many blogposts/youtube vids). I love my x100s but there is still room for improvement (especially autofocus)..
How much where the updates for the original x100 delayed after x100s came out?
My X-E2 is pretty much awesome, I need one more thing: EV on M mode like Nikon or Canon. Thanks Fuji!.
I can’t get Remote Control to work with Android version of the app. Probably because it was updated sep. 9. I wonder when the update will hit.
I just tested and my Android and it works fine with the X-T1 with firmware 3.0. Are you using the correct app, it’s not “Remote Control” the app is “Camera Remote.”
I`m pretty sure that continous AF with single shot (S-Mode) was also improved – it is not running back and for (the hunting effect) anymore. Every Shot is getting sharp!!! But therefore the Burst mode CH in AF-C is not sticking on the object while moving towards the object. Only the first image is sharp, i had never had problems with that. Maybe it is because of the other new settings? Is there a interference?
Also i`m having no black shadows anymore when using flash with 1/250 shutter speed.
Great update!!!
All indicates that there is a bug on Instant AF-C making it behave like AF-S regardless of the shutter type (it’s stated somewhere that with ES AF-C won’t work, but it’s not working neither with mechanichal shutter)
OK, thank you! Have a nice day!
AF-C works fine with mechanical shutter…the thing is, it has to be set to mechanical shutter ONLY. Just tested myself at 8fps: Set to mechanical shutter only, tracks fine and continuously focuses like before. Set to MS+ES or ES alone, and it locks the first frame only and doesn’t update during the burst.
Has it already been established why the X-E2 didn’t get the Quick Menu customization? For me personally, this would have been more useful than any of the features Fuji included in this update.
I tought that after de firmware update RAF files from fuji XE2 should provide information to adobe lightroom camera calibration. But still no Classic Chrome in camera calibration… It will be needed a future lightroom update?
classic chrome will be in your camera film simulation setting (camera setting) after the update. In lightroom the chrome setting is in the camera calibration setting under profile.
You didn’t understand what I said. I’ve already updated my xe2 with version 3.00. I took some photos and then I imported the Raw files to the last version of lightroom. Still, the Classic Chrome doesn’t appear in lightroom profile camera calibration. The others film simulations are all there, as they’re before xe2 firmware v. 3.00.
Yes, LR update is required
but because the last update of LR was a couple of days ago, we’ll have to wait weeks or months for the next update 🙁
You could try changing the EXIF to X-T1. Maybe that works.
fuxxing hell, it’s plenty of fuxxing LR develop settings around, you don’t really need CC
you do not know me and you don’t know my needs! So, why did you bother yourself to come here to post a comment like that?
because you comment was just pathetic mate..
It seems now back button focus it’s impossible to get due to bug making Instant AF setting work always as AF-S even though you select AF-C (with any shutter setting: mechanical shutter and electronic shutter). Before it didn’t work with PDAF, now the introduced another bug… unless I’m messing up 😛
Please correct me if I’m wrong
In my opinion back button af got better. You switch to manual focus. Go to menu to autofocus settings. Choose the instant af type you like and that’s it. Now you have back button af with phase detection
Will test it… since I haven’t used it on Fuji for the bad focusing… I forgot, so it seems that is my bad. Thanks a lot for the clarification!!!
Now I understand what you mean. I use single focus back button AF. Now i’ve tried it with continuous and it really doesn’t work as it worked before update. That’s definitely a bug.
But if focus dial on the front is set to manual focus, at least then it works as expected: AF-C… getting the correct back button focus functionality. So not sure if it’s a bug when set to single focus on camera body.
So thanks a lot for remembering me to set it to manual focus!
Ah, I’ve mistaken. AF-C works OK with back button AF in MF. The same as earlier. I just accidentally set af-s again instead of af-c. So no bug.
I too, have also found that both continuous focus and back button af focus do not look or act like they did before the upgrade.
First of all thanks for Fuji for free upgrade. It’s great. Here are my first observations.
1. The most important update for me is phase detection (PD) in instant focus feature in manual focus mode. I mostly shoot with MF because even with phase detection Fuji is slow. On the other hand it’s always on target. Thus it’s faster to focus once with MF and shoot several frames rather than focus with PD several times. Now it becames even more convenient.
2. Electronic shutter sensor readout is slow. It looks like 1/15s. (See the photo attached. There are seven periods of luminescent lamp flicker (100Hz). 7/100~1/15s). One should remember about this when taking photos of smth. that has to have precise form. You won’t notice these effects when shooting complicated form objects like people, nature etc.
3. Still no exposure compensation biasing auto ISO in manual mode. That’s strange as even X30 has this and it looks like easy to implement. That’s my main disappointment.
4. I am the one who is going to use the lock function a lot. It’s extremely easy to knock the aperture ring or command dials off their position. When I shoot fast I have no time to check everything before every shot. So I was looking forward to get this feature. The menu that allows you to program which buttons do you want to lock is fantastic. Unfortunately it’s not easy to lock and unlock. It takes at least 4 clicks on different buttons. That’s quite serious drawback.
I don’t have any comments on other updates. They are all great. My thanks to Fuji again.
Regarding your #3: Are you telling me, the PHYSICAL exposure compensation button doesn’t change exposure when auto-iso is on? Why oh why can so few camera companies get this right?!
Yes, that’s right. Canon, olympus and cheapest nikon cameras and some others don’t have a dedicated exposure compensation control in manual mode. Some other cameras don’t allow auto iso in manual at all. Fuji had no exposure compensation biasing the auto iso in manual until x30 in august 2014. x100t inherited this feature. Thus I hoped a lot Fuji will introduce this highly demanded function to older cameras via firmware update. Unfortunately my dreams didn’t come true.
Damn! This really makes me consider the Sony a7-series over Fuji’s X-series simply ’cause this is my preferred way of shooting… I was thinking about getting an x100 and considered getting a used s but now only the t looks really interesting to me. Do you find the dedicated iso dial sufficient as opposed to auto iso?
Thanx!
I feel you, that was a big bummer when I got my xe1 and it would not do auto-iso in manual mode, so what I did was keep auto-iso and put on auto shutter speed and not let the shutter drop below a certain level. I works well for 99% of my needs but there are certain situations where having full manual controls in auto-iso with exposure compensation would be nice… for those situations I just switch over to manual everything.
Yeah, I had the same experience when leaving high end Nikon dslrs for Olympus E-M5 which sports the same problem. To me this was the biggest step back when going mirrorless. Not AF nor viewfinder. Sony has this feature and I recently had an RX1R on loan for two weeks. I really, really loved being able to shoot this way again!
Definitely no. I use shutter priority when I’m OK with wide open, or I use aperture priority with special minimum shutter setting. The drawback of the former is that you can’t rapidly change shutter speed. But I’m OK with that as I don’t shoot fast with fuji anyway. For fast shooting I use nikons that have EC biasing auto ISO in manual.
Maybe the new feature where you can lock metering to the AF point will minimize the need for exposure compensation in most situations?! Is the metering of the x-t1 at least accurate, so you don’t need to dial down or up exposure on every single shot?
Metering is very accurate as all mirrorless. But you don’t always have a grey object on the picture. Thus I can’t say that’s a rescue. For example I usually shoot portraits with +2/3
Even if you meter the face?
yes. i like bright faces)
Hi Dis, thanks a lot, can you please elaborate and explain #2? I did not notice it.
Did you tried to take a picture on interior, with neons or tungsten lights ? I see this flickering while looking through the finder and LCD screen. Very annoying.
Let’s take an image at 1/32000. The duration of each pixel exposure is 1/32000. But the camera can’t read the information from all pixels at ones. Thus it exposes all pixels not simultaneously but line by line. This means that if light changes rapidly, different lines will be exposed by different amount of light: some will be exposed at the maximum brightness some at minimum brightness. If you know the frequency of the light flicker you can count the total sensor readout time. The other drawback of this is that rapidly moving objects will be distorted as some of the lines capture the object in one position. And others do it little bit later. The subject is imaged sharp but distorted
The key thing to remember here is that read-out happens the same way when the mechanical shutter is used. The big difference there is that while the sensor is read it is also covered, which removes the rolling shutter effect.
I do have 1 question – how do video cameras work? Do they read the sensor in more efficient ways? Are dedicated camcorder sensors different than their still-camera counterparts?
Video resolution is way lower. Top 4k video quality is just 7-8 MP (depends on the aspect ratio). And they have 1/60 readout.
Hi, same problem as #2
Just upgraded and it was the first sing I saw, continuous banding when looking through LCD screen and EVF when underexposing. If I set a “correct” (good exposure) shutter speed, the flickering disappears. Tried to set shutter to Mechanical only, but nothing changes.
Any advice about that “bug” ? Is there any settings combination to remove that effect ?
When the light source is periodic, this is what you’ll see at certain shutter speeds. No preventing that in any camera I’m afraid.
The short answer is no. And that’s not a bug. It’s sensor readout technology gap. You can get used to it or get a camera with OVF. I was talking about not an issue when the flickering appears in the EVF or LCD during live view but the flicker on the image itself. That’s more serious problem. Fortunately mechanical shutter has no flickering problem until you get to fast shutter speeds 1/500 and higher. If you don’t shoot sports under fluorescent light, use mechanical shutter and forget it. Otherwise you need canon 7d mark II. The newest and the only camera that can handle with flickering lights up to date
Thanks for your answers, I think I just didn’t saw it in the same interior with previous firwmare 1.0 (X-T1). I have the problem on taken pictures too, which confirms it is a real problem.
Possible to rollback to 1.0 firmware on X-T1 body ?
The new firmware has nothing to do with LCD or EVF flicker. It’s the same as on the previous firmwares and all other cameras. You can nothing to do with it. Probably you just have not noticed it earlier. The problem with the image flicker solves like this: use only mechanical shutter at speeds slower than 1/500 under flickering lights. You can also use flash to flush out the flicker from the image.
Thanks Dis, will try to check it more further and take some test shots with flash on.
Solution: Get masterrace NIkon DSLR, no flicker in optical viewfinder of superiorness. Otherwise convert to Sony and become Sony fgt! Beware, Sony
wobble lensesanal dildos are known to be painful up the @nus, lel at you future fegiTWhat ES shutter speed was this shot at? I don’t understand your calculation for 1/15s readout. Kindly clarify.
Edit/
Just red your other reply. Wow, now I think I get it. So even if each pixel is only exposed for say 1/32000s the actual total time for the sensor to finish the “scanning” is minimum 1/15s? Mind blown.
Yes. That’s right. The flicker is present on the image regardless of the electronic shutter speed until you get down to 1/15. The only thing that changes is contrast of the flicker. Flicker effect effect is also present if one uses mechanical shutter. But MS is much faster: ~1/250 (Same as flash sync speed. Specified 1/180 is slower than the real FSS for fail proof). Thus you see less than one period of flicker: 40%.
Thanks Dis,
So with 1/15 readout being fairly slow, would you need to be extra careful with hand held long lenses for your portrait backdrop not to have a rolling shutter effect? I’m going to test it out soon, very curious of the effect. Cheers.
In general yes, but rolling shutter effects are much less visible than long shutter smoothness, so it’s not a big problem.
Hopefully they announce the X-pro 2 by early February. While the X-T1T is a far superior camera feature wise, I am not going to upgrade without improvements in image quality. Fuji needs a new sensor next time around.
I would have preferred colour peaking for my X-Pro 1. However, I appreciate what they have done for that camera with updates over the past few years. Now it is time for the successor.
Again no auto ISO compensation! Why fuji?
Learn photography,noob!
What exactly have I to learn connoisseur?
Wtf Fuji? Why not upgrade x100s? If you wanna sell more x100T, this approach is wrong. You’ll loose many loyal users!
right answer..they want sell more x100t (it’a private company) but it’s normal.
(x100x:
new firmware=no profits
more sell = profits and..R&D investments.
Lose many loyal users to which other company? Who else updates cameras to this extent that customers have already bought ?
Fuji was different… It was
@ex Nikon boy : All interchangeable lend bodies have received some love; I accept that it varies immensely between product lines & models but all of them had something; Look at Nikon’s own firmware update published today for the D810
Camera already perfect, now even more perfect. Heil Nikon!
If you are using a discontinued product, you are not a loyal user, you are a legacy user. A truly loyal user orders the replacement product on the day it’s announced. A product will continue to be supported for a time after it is discontinued, but the company’s goal is to get you to buy the new model.
That Fuji even considers continued development of firmware upgrades after the product had been replaced by its successor is extremely rare. How much time and effort is put into making the Nikon D7000 a better camera today, for example?
Dear Fuji faggot, if someone buy every product that is launched, as you said, this person isn’t a. Loyal user, it’s an idiot with a gib wallet. Nothing more.
No Bracketing of at least +-2EV
Yeah damn I would have liked that feature
Instant AF-C bug introduced! (works as AF-S regardless the Shutter type)
that’s it? no more innovation by fuji just marketing? No FF or even MF?
troll woke up early today
we are living in a democracy
So, Trolls can vote?!?
do you prefer fanboy…dictatorship? 🙂
Yes, but only Canikon masterrace is allowed to vote. Get back to work!
and Fuji fanboy is working all the day?
Big Kaizen is only for X-T1, others are rubbish including what X-E2 was given. Fujifilm changed strategy and rewards only X-T1 owners with worth improvements and updates, others got rubbish but hype marketing and fuji fanboys will be making impressions how great updated they have got too. Look how many X-E2/X-Pro1/X-E1 users have been asking Fuji for improvements they really needed and to fix some serious issues – e.g. waxy/plastic high iso, magneta cast, NR Off, foliage, AF poor performance in low light, red clipping – and no of these was fixed by Fuji… because Fuji stoped listening to users needs. So do not make me laugh, “Big” Fuji Kaizen is marketing only.
did you even tought that mnay of those issues are hardware related? probably not…
Most of them are program related and JPEG engine. Users have also asked for adges for better bracketing and more cofigurable buttons which are poor comparing to other brands, but Fuji was deaf to listem to so many requests. I sold Fuji, its lenses are better than its cameras, Fuji AF is poor performer compared to Panas, Sony, Oly, Canikon, Samsung. In my view they made big mistake reducing updates for X-E2/100s/Pro1, many users sold them and moved to Sony (3 of my friends), I moved to Nikon (D750).
Thank you for joining masterrace of cameradom! Hope we can have SONYCAUST soon!
more or less
What did you invent and sell to the public today?
Oh, nothing. Pot, meet Kettle.
You want full frame from a firmware update?!!!!
Maybe his mum has firmware update to allow full cokk in mouth, lel. Let me know when ready, pls!
The only MF is you, lel.
oh no, I was really expecting classic chrome for x-e1 my hearth is broken fuji
The bad thing about that is that as far as I can remember it was promised a few weeks ago.
That was just a rumour; I’d have loved it too, but I do not believe it was promised.
i remember it was told by a fuji rep. Supposely , that caused a big issue on why x-e2 wouldnt have it
You may well be right;
Go jump of a bridge, thank you. Not classic chrome but classic suicide, so you are 50% there . Better than nothing I guess, stupid fgt…
Sony is for video tv
Thanks fujifilm for to support us
For those who complain all the time look on Nikon and Canon who never update
new or old cameras .Say Thanks cost nothing
Bet you say thanks after sukking dck free of charge, HULK assume. Pls move to Sony, fgt!
Are you a pro photographer? Sony is a nice camera .
As a pro i prefer Fujfilm for the support, Quality files ,lenses ,and so many thinks, who makes me take better photos.
Firmware updates on Sony,nikon,Canon? Never
No support for Windows phone?
Niche market; Not enough to make learning yet another OS and another set of tools an interesting proposition; My own programs do not run on Windows Phone and depending on it’s future, may never run on it.
HULK advise: There should be witch trials for people using Windows phones. Will rid humanity of some idiots at least. HULK volunterr SMASH! Windows fgts!
if i read this correctly, X-Pro1 gets only AF+MF thingy that has been on sigma merrills from start – is that correct?
yes, correct, checked fuji’s site. hmm, i was hoping for classic chrome to be added though, that’s just an additional curve – it’s a sw and doesn’t require any hw, shame on you fuji considering the fact that x-pro1 is your current model!
Although it is only a small curve add-on there are two factors that many people seem to forget. 1- Any new update must be written, tested, tested and tested again which takes time and involves a cost; Each camera having a different hardware, involves the same amount of work, time and money
2- There’s no telling that there is enough memory left in the somewhat older XPRO1 hardware to accept another update, or they run the risk of not being able to apply updates when new lenses will appear – THAT would be bad IMHO. Same with the x-e1
I am personally very happy that my x-e1 received some love; I would have preferred a bit more, but some love is better than nothing; Look at the firmware updates Nikon published today for the D810 & D750: 3 fixes for some obscure bug, most users have never experienced – end of story;
Yup, so you could just as well have bought a Sigma Merrill since it’s essentially the same camera anyway. /s
I have it, otherwise I wouldn’t comment about it, would I
The fact that Fuji put so much marketing into this minimal update for a small range of shutter speeds astounds me. They should have given us an update to turn off shutter speed so we never have to worry about it! If they don’t start giving us some innovation I’m afraid I’ll have to switch to the Hasselblad Lunar.
Go for the Stellar II. It’s so much newer. 🙂
I love Fuji approach.
Everybody is always asking for new cameras, upgrade this, upgrade that. The consequence is that cameras are made worse than in the past. I’ve got a lot of cameras from the ’70, different brands, and their body are still great. They were made to last. I bought a Nikon D4 for my job and after 6 months I’m loosing alla the rubber. Do you know how a D4 cost? Can you believe it? And I had many problems with body construction using different recent models from various brands.
Technology is good and progress too. I’m not saying I don’t want better sensors, but don’t forget that we already have something great.
I want something made to last (well, let say at least five years) and Fuji seems to answer that need.
It astounds me that so many people complain about free firmware updates!
Same here!
And on the same day Nikon released an update for two of their flagship cameras D810 and D750; If you want to see what the competition offers for an update … http://nikonrumors.com/2014/12/17/nikon-d750-1-01-and-d810-1-02-c-firmware-updates-released.aspx/
Now it would be good than people realise what they get – even if they wished for more (we all do) what they’re getting is already a free bonus.
( Note I am a xe-1 owner, but I am already happy to get what the xe-1 gets)
They are NOT free.
Care to explain where and when any money was requested ?
The cost is built in to the system. People pay a premium for Fuji, knowing that they will support the product down the road. So, NOT free. We actually PAYED IT FORWARD when investing in the Fuji system!
Nonsense. The sales contract between a buyer of any Fuji X system camera and the Fujifilm company DOES NOT mention updates at all. Fujifilm is not at all obligated to provide updates. Period. Updates are free.
Additionally, premium price does not imply premium customer service. Buy a Porsche and try it yourself.
Of course, you have the right to live in a world of fantasy to think otherwise.
Obviously they need to make money, but they do have the other option of not backporting any updates and just creaming the profits.
The support upgrades are done completely on a voluntary basis by Fuji, they never promised anything; They explained what they are trying to achieve but never committed or signed any contract (financial or moral) with their clients saying we will DO this.
I am sorry to say that It is only by some twisted logic that you decided to feel otherwise.
People pay good money for many other brands where I haven’t seen much in this kind of support. I think the applause is warranted. I agree with you in that this is how it SHOULD be everywhere you pay premium prices.
Well, a major improvement for the X-Pro1, isn’t it? Waw, It’s second hand value must have doubled now. Maybe even tripled.
(To the sober Fuji users only, non-overoptimistic fanboys: this update is of course pure window-dressing. I suspect Fuji to perform in the background a fair bit of non-documented code debugging, the X-Pro1 is still on the sales list, isn’t it? This one new function must be the golden wrapper around something that smells more like damage control, the way it has always been with these ‘kaizen’ updates)
Wow! I don’t recall users complaining about 1000s of bugs automagically fixed by the so-called window-dressing updates.
I seem to recall people being fairly happy with the aforementioned updates
But I could be wrong of course.
Why are you still expecting massive updates for the X-Pro1 and for how long do you expect to see those?
Been very happy with the firmware updates good work fuji.
I just downloaded the remote app. It there a possibility to have a longer aperture time than 30 sec?
No. Use bulb and external release with timer
Didn’t download it yet, but Thanks and Happy Holidays, FUJIFILM!
I cannot enter to the fujifilm website to download the update… Anyone with the same problem?
I downloaded the X-T1 FW in less than a second 😉
The update went smoothly, but the camera seems to run much warmer now. The battery too.
Fuji has soul !
Ok this is weird but after the update my clip on flash for the XT1 stopped working. It will not fire anymore. Tried a canon flash (600 ex) and that one works. Grrrr. Anybody else has this issue?
Do you have the camera in electronic shutter mode? Flash doesn’t work if electronic shutter is in use. Could that be your issue?
Yes. That is the first thing I checked. Made sure I was using mechanical shutter. Like I said, my canon flash works. Maybe my clip on flash just went bad. Darn.
I have the same issue. MS mode. Cursor skips over flash mode in menu. Flash does not work, even though mode is stuck on “Rear.” What’s up with this?
FIGURED IT OUT – Flash won’t operate in Silent Mode – Whew! All is well.
Thanks.
Download and install went smoothly. Nothing really special about the update that I can tell tonight (nothing really to test it on). Regarding the Classic Chrome, I guess its sorta neat that I can shoot jpeg in that, but honestly I have the ICC profile from dpReview forum (wish I could remember the guys name right now that created it), and honestly it was spot on for the small test I was able to get to. So CC on my X-E2 was already had through the ICC into CaptureOne.
While I can see some people are quite happy, I fail to understand why people are complaining as they are getting quite a bit for a camera that is over a year old. With Nikon you only got firmware updates if it was something of a serious bug, otherwise the camera will do what it did on day one and nothing else.
Fuji last attempt to sell Fuji X-T1 E2 at premium price before releasing the next X-Pro2 that is going to take the spotlight!! Anyway that electronic shutter looks good!!
So tired for the “Fuji releases unfinished cameras and has to fix them later” with updates. Yeah. Cause Nikon never released cameras that had sensors literally disintegrate with sensor cleaning. Or oil up… You know, stuff that can be fixed “easily” by replacing the whole sensor block under warranty.
These people somehow don’t understand these updates don’t just fix issues (which they do). They add new features, which is altogether a different development cycle.
Do you guys even HAVE a Fuji or do you just hate life and want to whine for no reason?
I’m here for the news and rumours, not to let the world know how disappointed I am with Fuji for not making me a better photographer. Learn to shoot in manual mode (properly, shoot film for a year) and maybe stop complaining.
The world of photography had gone down the drain because of these self-proclaimed “pros”. Amateurs at least worked with passion, for the love of the craft. These “photo enthusiasts” are just soulless drones who don’t see the photo from the tech.
Go buy a Sony! You just don’t get it. Leave the “shitty” xpro1 to people who actually KNOW how to use it.
Which Fujifilm camera you were using? Why you are so much disappointed? If you just let us know here.
He is just disappointed by people’s reactions and their outcry at not making them a better photographer; For himself he seems quite happy 🙂
I am afraid why he is disappointed and why he is telling to buy Sony? I am Fujifilm big fan and I am using Fujifilm cameras since last 15 years now! I bought X100 when it was launched then bought X100S and also I have new X-T1 with 56mm F1.2, and also I am going to buy new X100T and of course I am also waiting for new XPro2, though I have not used XPro 1, but will but it.
And I have a had opportunity to use Sony A7S, frankly speaking in terms of still I did not like it and it is not good as Fujifilm X-T1, and JPEG engine is also what I want like Fujifilm, all guys are aware how Fujifilm’s JPEGs! But I
will here admit in terms of video performance Sony A7S is winner, it is an awesome camera, and low light performance is outstanding! And yes still photos have much detail though it is just 12MP but I guess it is Full frame so we can see it while seeing it, clarity & resolution is awesome in A7S.
He was being sarcastic.
Fuji is like a small car manufacturer, a niche player. They may look a little better and have the right performance in one area, in some basic aspects they will disappoint a lot. Or you accept the shortcomings and live with them or you go away from Fuji, sell your stuff on eBay. Or can do like me, I’m only using Fuji in balanced way with my DSLRs, in situations where I know they will fit and won’t fail. But for sure, Fuji and in particular the X-Pro1 is not an ‘all-rounder, everybody’s friend’ kind of camera system. Sure it requires a bit of ‘specific handling’, but after 2.5 years it will still abandon you in the middle of the most critical shots with some kind of lock-up that will cost you half an hour to get rid of. Might be my X-Pro1 as it was one of the very first batch, but still. How many times I had to undergo a complete reset. The harsh truth is also that kaizen doesn’t exist, Fuji’s R&D was never ready when they released a product, they just keep on developing it for a while after that. Strange, but it’s an approach we have to accept. I can’t deny, I’m feeling a lot more secure in all situations with that ‘so bad’ Nikon Pro-gear. Fuji has a place in my life now but it will depend very much of 2015 what I’ll do with it… as I too, am not so sure that the X-series still have a bright future in the present market constellation.
Come on LCN You can use any camera you like is up to you.I am with Nikon for 25 years .I use Nikon and fiji for wedding 80% of my photos are with XT1.
I prefer to use the XT 1 than Nikon.
I can sell my Nikon lenses if you like
AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II
AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G ED Autofocus Lens
AF-S Zoom Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G ED AF Lens
AF DC Nikkor 135mm f/2.0D
AF DC Nikkor 105mm f/2.0D
Any one like Nikon lens?
You’d be much better off never selling the DC’s and use those on your Fuji with a Speedbooster.
I don’t think anybody feels the X-Pro1 is an ‘all-rounder’ camera. But maybe your bad luck with your early X-Pro1 is clouding your view, just as my series of bad luck stories (two AF-S motor burn outs on different lenses in the same month) severed my feelings of security toward Nikon.
Nikon remains a great company, and it was sheer bad luck that both my 12-24 and 17-55 blew AF-S motors in quick succession. No-one’s fault. But, it’s hard to go back to the same trust in your camera system as a result.
However, the difference is I recognise this is down to sheer bad luck and don’t go bleating about it to those who use Nikon. What’s your excuse?
No product on earth is “ready” when it get’s released. Not a single one. This is the ever lasting battle between a company’s economists vs. engineers. But few update their products like Fuji does, but make you buying the next (unfinished) hardware generation instead.
(to prevent misunderstandings: I bought into the Fuji X system (beside Nikon FF) but not into the hype. Nevertheless, I do appreciate their way.)
This thread is populated by silly children for the most part. Unbelievable, privileged whiners and moaners complaining about a great company providing wonderful toys at bargain prices then upgrading them as they develop their technologies… FOR FREE! Only 10 years ago, the best film cameras were selling for nearly the same price as a Fuji X-T1, with inferior manual lenses. And you had to use color slide film, at 50 cents per shot. Indeed, most of the folks in this thread would not even be “photographers” if it were not for digital making everything so simple, easy… and inexpensive! Indeed, 2,500 shots or so pays for a Fuji X-T1 on film savings alone.
I am sure that most of you babbling in this thread know computers much better than optics and imaging principles, let alone photographic and classical art. My advice: Suck it up, learn the craft… and most of all… get a life!
What a ridiculous comment. Maybe quite a few whiners & moaners have a reason to be like this. I at least understand why as a very early adopter of that ‘fabulous’ X-system. These camera’s are not upgraded, Fuji is fixing bugs – related to a very questionable R&D testing & QA-validation cycle – all the time. The film-era cameras didn’t have inferior lenses at all and most of those were built to live a lifetime. And you just shot film in a much more selective & critical way than now with digital. I’m curious to hear how long you plan to use your X-T1 – like most other Fuji fanboys, one year? Two years? Have fun with it, and believe it’s very cheap. There’s still gear around that easily can last at least 5 years without even degrading too much.
My typical camera life cycle is around five to seven years, although I used my D2x for nine in total. I would expect at least three of those years will be in a frontline role, and the remainder as back-up. I currently have a XPro-1 and an X-T1. The X-T1 is my primary camera and the XPro-1 is now my ‘get out of jail free’ card for emergency. I would expect to be able to say the same thing for at least another year and a half, by which time the putative XPro-2 should have arrived and had its first price dip. That would then be my primary camera into the 2020s, with the X-T1 taking more of a back-seat until its time to be changed came about, very likely in some time around 2019/2020.
I’ve been using a similar replacement cycle since the late 1980s. It did speed up in the early 2000s because sensor technology was changing at an alarming rate, and I was left with a ‘pointless’ D1 less than three years after I bought it. But that’s rare.
Fuji’s new firmware does not reset the clock. All that happened is my XPro-1 was a good camera the day before yesterday that is now a little better camera today and my X-T1 was a very good camera the day before yesterday that became a better camera today. What I don’t understand is why that upsets so many people. I had three major firmware bug-fixes and compatibility upgrades to my D2x in its lifetime, but none of these rendered any change to the camera’s functionality. If Nikon had been Fuji, my D2x would have ended its days as a D2xs with a D2x screen. But it didn’t. So how does this make Nikon’s firmware strategy BETTER than Fuji?
A free firmware upgrade can by no means be a reason for anybody to be upset. But there are a lot of upset people out there who search the web to find a reason for their bad mood.
I briefly glanced through your previous posts and couldn’t find one with a positive attitude. Most of the time you sound like an extremely embittered person. If you’re so disappointed with Fuji why don’t you move on to a brand that suits you better instead of wasting your time in this forum? You cannot even claim to make constructive criticism, since you only rant and insult.
You missed my point entirely. Wow. Guess it hit too close to home. BTW, “inferior” referred to manual lens inferior sharpness (some were “great” but not the majority), and lack of critical auto focusing compared to digital era glass. Your assumptions about me in the rest of your rant are presumptuous on one hand and insulting on the other.
A lot of people don’t see how blinded they are by just a brand name, completely identifying themselves with the according products and no longer able to see the nuances. How can anyone believe that in 2014 a company is hiring expensive staff to develop FW updates ‘just for free’? Of course, this is part of a masterplan for this product line, call it a recovery plan, damage control or kaizen – they are just fixing things all the time that went wrong during R&D to save their reputation in the market. It’s all in the premium you pay for this quite expensive compact camera system. Fuji’s clever the way they present this. The bonus is just a marginal set of new functions, a bit of a maskerade. After every update, f.i. AF behavior was different even when it was not documented. The AF algorithms have been a problem for all early Fuji X-cameras, who doesn’t want to admit it is really not having any reference to other systems in the market. Is this all good? I don’t know. I like companies that can design products first time right. But who does in this fully electronic era? The truth is that Fuji didn’t do a very good job with the release of the very immature X-Pro1 in those days. It was really a shame.
There’s some fundamentally ill-conceived logic at work here. No, there isn’t a team of software elves slaving away to make mid-season course corrections. There is a team of software elves making software. They work at developing the next line of cameras, and roll out both bug fixes and intermediate upgrades in the execution of that development. Yes, Fuji is using its firmware upgrades to fix things, but also to include new things that might otherwise mean a model change in another brand.
The early performance of the XPro-1, X100, and X-E1 is well documented. It’s also now entirely historic. Anyone buying a new X-Pro1 will struggle to understand what you are talking about because everything was fixed in firmware supplied with new models. Everyone else has already applied the software fixes. It’s suitably changed enough that it’s not the same camera anymore.
To continue to be fixated on the XPro-1’s early performance as an justification for you arguments is a bit dismissing Ford’s 2015 range because it made the Edsel.
1. The X-Pro1 is still being sold… as the most premium model in the hierarchy. Hmmm……?
2. Same sensor, same performance, same issues with RAF files… or even worse (E2 wax skins).
From what I read, I feel you know nothing about model R&D & software development, dear Slartibartfast.
You are absolutely right
You speak my mind!!! i really nobody at fujifilm is reading those comments.
Before I decided to buy my X-E2 I informed myself about the strengths and limitations of this camera. Therefore I knew what I was getting and Fuji had no obligation to upgrade the product. Thank you Fuji for adding the two features I missed the most: remote control and time laps. For me these are free treats and I have no reason to rant.
Awesome updates! 🙂 Like getting a new camera for christmas. Many iterative camera models have fewer improvements than what I get here for free.
Love the update. Would have hoped for direct wifi sp-1 printer support on my x-e2. Hope it will come in the future. Easy crosselling for fuji. I’m currently holding out on the printer because of the tedious x-e2-to-smarthone-app1–to-smartphone-app2-to-printer workaround.
I can’t open the DAT file on my windows 8 pc. Does someone know which program I have to use?
why do you want to open a data file?
Just put it o a in-camera formated card and use it for camera firmware update.
Such a great upgrade. Finally a usable Q-menu!!!
So sweet I could cry.
how to hide DR an ES/MS indicate from LCD?
Switch to MS)
my fuji xt-1 is version 1.00.should i update to 1.10 or i can update it direct with 3.00? is v3.00 covers the 1.10 version?
These updates are cumulative updates. So all changes are included in the last file. No need for the version between.
Thanks a lot.
Very nice.
Being able to manual adjust focus while in AF mode is very good.
One thing i have to say about people complain about fuji and the updates.
If you own a fujiX: You don’t buy a camera before reading any review. So you know about the flaws of a camera/system. No camera is perfect. If you don’t like the camera, give it back. Complaining about updates with bugfixes and new features is very strange
If you don’t own a fujjX and you are: a) Nikon DSLR shooter complaining about autofocus in a fuji forum, b) canon DSLR shooter complaining in a sony forum abouts missing lens lineup, c) system kamera shooter complaining in a dslr forum about size, weight poor live view etc….. do everybody a favour: just say nothing.
Hat’s off to Fujifilm for this. They really know how to show the love for their customers. They have kept my old X100 relevant with a string of firmware releases and now this huge gift. Back button focus is vastly improved, the Q-menu is better and the fast and silent shutter is fun. I am also surprised by how much I like the natural live view feature. Fuji listens and delivers. (Word to the whiners: they probably listen more to thoughtful suggestions than cry baby whines.) Thanks for the holiday gift Fujifilm.
My X-E2 was already an amazing camera and it’s even better now after this update,
Thank You Very Much Fujifilm !
What Fuji is doing is a step in the right direction, when hardware and software separated in cameras like they are in PCs or a more closely mobile device – cellphones.
A step in that direction happened about 10 years ago when there was a 3rd party firmware with more features for the Canon Digital Rebel camera. Back then the common opinion was that Canon crippled the lower-end camera to separate it artificially from their higher end line.
I wonder how a world where cameras are mostly differentiated by hardware rather than software looks like.
In such a world, Fuji would release feature parity for all of their cameras from the X family where possible – customizable Q menu or Classic Chrome film simulation, for example. Camera software would be more like iOS updates – all devices 3 years or newer get the updates and they differentiate in hardware – battery life, speed, etc. In the camera world this would mean that all cameras with Wifi would get the remote control feature at once.
In this world the work to release customization for the Q menu or CC film for the X-Pro1 or X-E2 would require very little overhead compared to releasing it to only 1 model. Possibly more importantly, the camera maker would truly embrace differentiation by hardware alone and not software. The way things are now, at least in part, Fuji and other camera manufacturers do rely on software as differentiation, and the result is cameras that differ hardware-wise much less than the iPhone 6 to the iPhone 5, for example.
In this world Fuji is still slow. DSLRs are fast thanks to specific hardware realization. The more universal hardware you use, the slower the device becomes.
Will X-E2 ever get the the additional upgrades given to the XT-1?
Very unlikely but who knows?
I wish it would happen in the next 3 or so months. It’s still a current model camera.
Personally, I’d like the same improvements to video as a minimum.
I downloaded the firmware but it’s 42.6mb instead of 40.6mb. I have deleted and downloaded over 5 times already, and I still get that extra 2mb. advice?? Thanks
42.6mb for FWUP0005.DAT is fine, to be precise 42’599’472 Byte (42.6 MB on the volume).
42’599’472 bytes is not 42,6 MB. It’s 40.6 MB. Try dividing 42’599’472 by 1024 two times.
Operating systems calculate and provide a file’s size actually in binary numbers, e.g., binary Mebibyte (MiB), but they (or programs) ‘tag’ these numbers misleadingly with the decimal unit, e.g., Megabyte (MB).
This frequently causes misunderstandings and confusion.
1024 Byte = 1,024 KB = 1,000 KiB
42599472 Byte = 42,599 MB = 40,626 MiB, but you may read 40,6 MB (as I do on my computer – and the firmware update worked flawlessly with that file).
To be save, use the numbers given in Byte (without the prefix M, Mi, or whatever), if provided (hey Fuji, listen) …
The comments on this thread are really funny. Be thankful we even get new features. I for one am excited and happily use my XT1 for all my professional work.
We’re so spoiled now with digital and upgrades, the way I look at it, the XT1 is just an extension of my film cameras that happens to shoot digital. It has heart and makes photography fun again.
There seems to be a problem with the new Firmware for the X-T1 and the Nissin i40. It won’t work anymore 🙁
The small EF-X8 works, the Nikon 910 works, but the i40 doesn’t work after the firmware update. Silent Mode is off, Singleshot Mode on. Tried several configurations on the flash, also without any success. Has anybody else problems with the i40?
A other Topic: Does anybody makes a direkt compare between the Videocodec in the new Version and the Videocodec in the old Version? Are there any visible differences?
Best Regards
Andreas
No problem with the Nissin i40 and X-T1.
I have two Nissin i40 and two X-T1 (each with firmware 3.00).
Both flashes work with both cameras!
BUT: Only in drive mode “S”, not in the drive modes “CL” & “CH”.
When I open the Q menue (with flash mode icon) the flash mode icon gets grey in CL and CH drive modes, and is white in S mode (as with the shutter modes: MS and MS+ES (white) and ES (grey), as supposed according to Fuji).
Thanks for the Info. I tested the Flash again and again – and – after just 2 1/2 Weeks the i40 is defect. The Testflash won’t work. What a Quality sh..
My SB-910 over 2 Years without any Problems. The i40 should replace the SB-700 because the SB-700 hangs very often on the Fuji X-Cameras (X100s & X-T1), but with the reliability of the i40 i’m now unsure if this was the right replacement 🙁
That’s a pitty. My two i40 (for Fuji) work flawlessly – and I love them, esp. compared to the Fuji EF-42, even compared to the SB-800 in my D800. And in view of all the positive reviews of the i40, also for other camera systems, I’m sure that the i40 is very reliable but you’ve drawn a rare blank.
I’d give it a 2nd chance (replacement under warranty?).
Cheers
Two surprises for me after updating X-T1 firmware, which was not stated in the official feature list:
1. Before firmware update and whenever I used X-T1 indoor with florescent tubes (50Hz), the EVF flickers too much. After updating X-T1 latest firmware, the EVF no longer flickers.
2. The AF performance of XF50-140 was a bit slow. After firmware update, I was upset when my X-T1 + XF50-140 failed to focus under low light (it worked before). After resetting all camera settings, XF50-140 can focus in low light BETTER than before.
When is the X100S going to get the update? Did I miss something?
good question…
Speaking of X-Mas when will the X-M1 also get an update?
