Yesteday I told you NOT to grab the $139 discounted X-E2, as better deals will start on May 25th. Well, in fact some stores decided to anticipate the deals and offer the $200 price drop starting from now!
So you can find the X-E2 with kit lens $200 off at AmazonUS (via top rated third party seller CameraSpot, free shipping). The discount applies only to the black kit version.
There are, at the moment of this post, just three available… so act fast, or wait the 25th of May.
And thanks for the link, Matt.

Admin, any words on pricing of XF 18-135mm? my guess is around £600?
Should be about $/€200 above the 18-55. That is with the X-T1 + 18-55 at €1599, and with 18-135 at €1799 according to this store:

thanks. so around 650GBP in uk. quite alot for a travel zoom. but i will probably still get it as all-in-one travel package wiht XE1.
This site is great to follow in the tricky world of discounts! I have two lenses to thank you for (the 35/1.4 STILL backordered on Amazon after 1.5 months!?), and there could be more gear to come. 🙂
Question: If there’s indeed going to be a 35/1.4 Mark II, it wouldn’t be any sooner than early 2015?
Wow. How long before the X-T1 gets the discount treatment? I am used to camera bodies not retaining their value as well as lenses but the value of the Fuji bodies has been decimated by these discounts.
There is no resale value with these. You can’t buy a lower-level Fuji with the intent of moving up at some point–you lose so much in resale. Not the worst thing in the world but definitely requires a shift in purchase strategy.
Few cameras lose more value, more quickly than Fujifilm.
Lenses too. Fujifilm discounts their lenses so often that the value is lost almost within months. Sales are clearly lacking and Fujifilm gives up precious margin dollars to keep the channel stuffed.
I disagree, in New Zealand the X100 and X100s have been holding their value pretty nicely
Which camera brand holds value better? And forget leica for a moment. The M-Line at least.
By “holding their value” is meant residual value. Try selling your used Fuji gear in the US, or Sony gear for that matter. See how well it holds its value.
Only because DSLR-buyers are stupid and pay 90% of what the body currently costs new for a used one on ebay. ^^
Yes, insult people, that’s the way to support your argument. The fact is Fujifilm cameras lose their value, FAST.
Well, that is not a fact but an opinion or impression. Unless you have some reliable numbers to support it.
Of course some models lose value faster than others but you can not make a general case out of this. Especially not for lenses.
I know a guy who bought a used entry level DSLR vor 300,- on ebay when it was 330,- new at amazon. And I really tried to talk him out of it. The same happend when I sold my used DSLR. Lucky me.
But if you look at what dslr bodys regularly go for on ebay and look at online retail prices, this seems to happen on a regular basis.
Fuji cameras probably go for less because Noobs still buy dslrs. If there is only one serious bidder for you Fuji camera you will not hit the jackpot with it. Of course that is also just a theory I have. 😉
Show us the time series data, Ratty. Otherwise, you’re just out-gassing.
The only Fuji models I’ve seen slipping are the X10 and the X-E1 to a lesser extent. Both will probably drop off Fuji’s MAP list soon, if they haven’t already, and depress used prices accordingly. X-E1 kits are mostly sold out around Toronto with restock iffy.
Exactly. Fujifilm comes up a distant player here.
Malarkey. Check eBay “completed auction” listings and KEH. If anything, Fuji’s firmware upgrades have backstopped prices.Other makers just roll-out new models with marginal improvements and kill resale of previous models in the process.
You can keep them as second bodies, I’m not going to buy two x t1’s.
Went back to 139 discount (20/05/2014 at 5:27 pm in Canada…)
So the price wars rev up, as manufacturers seek to meet the actual market demand.
They have taught customers to expect nice discounts within six months, and even more within twelve. Worse, they have taught customers that paying full price will result in a disastrous loss of residual value. This strategy will only accelerate as the manufacturers compete to see who will be first to skim the next level down before the other guys do.
That is ok as long as they are gaining market share. Go Fuji!
Good point. Nikon dropped prices on its 1 series to buy market share and thereby freeze out the competition in mirrorless. Now Sony is #1 in market share, Nikon #2, #3 is possibly Canon or Samsung or Micro 4/3, with Fuji trailing the pack. Fuji needs some serious price dropping soon to stay in the game or to even be spoken in the same sentence as the words “market share.”
Well, Fuji is gaining. If you look at flickr’s camera finder (not really a representative statistics) Fuji and Panasonic switch places every other day now. And from what I’ve heard Panasonic and Olympus are in much more trouble than Fuji.
Samsung is well ahead, but probably only due to the phones and tablets.
They sure taught me. I’ll wait 2 months after an introduction before I even think of buying it.
So where’s the big price drop for the x100s? I’ve been waiting over a year now.
X100s is already down to $1049 through official “unofficial” I-know-nothing channels.
X100s, however, is more of a specialty niche item. Prices on items like this, like the Df, and such are less likely to fall, since they were never mainstream bet-your-biz products.
X-E2 kits have been going for C$1299 in Toronto for some time. Bid deal…
