Back in October, attentive FR-reader Jacek saw that Metz displayed a new flash for Fuji on their product page, the mecablitz 26 AF-1 digital.
Now Metz officially announced it (see data sheet here). It is promised to be available in Fuji TTL too.
REMINDER: It is rumored, that Metz is also working with Fuji on the new flash, that will come in spring.

Another flash that can tilt upwards, but not rotate. After the Nissin i40, not really needed.
Also not a very strong flash. GN up to 26, vs 40 of the Nissin.
But of course at $129 it’s half the price:

The EF-X20 does not tilt though IIRC
Something for the EF-X20 II maybe? 😉
But it seems like a good option for subtle fill flash, or if you want the harsh flash look.
It does with a Canon cord. Plus you can get it away from the lens axis. I put mine on a handle along with a small umbrella, all fits easy in bag. And it looks much nicer on RF style cameras.
Fine, but if you want it on camera, as it’s intended, it doesn’t have that feature. Always thought that was a big shame as it does look cool.
Year #4 and the Fujifilm flash system is still MIA.
Well done Fujifilm, well done.
No wonder Metz had to file for bankruptcy…
“Wireless Slave TTL functionality” ??? Too good to be true…
Coverage is from 23 to 85mm in 135mm equivalent!
When the xp1 first came out I talked to a Metz rep about when they would have an adapter out for their top line flashes (I have a few, love them!) and was told “never.” Maybe it’s time to ask again. I’d love to use them with my xp1, have held off on any flashes beyond the x-20, and occasional manual use of the bigger Metz flashes.
