What should be Fuji’s next X-mount lenses to complete the lineup? Tell Fujifilm your dream lenses!

 photo 6268_801371793261686_8172447838974009911_n_zpsbbd64cef.png

A couple of weeks ago I posted on facebook here and on twitter here a simple table (posted above), showing the X-mount lenses that Fuji has rolled out in the last 2/3 years… and looking back, it’s really impressive how many high quality lenses Fuji gave us in such a short time.

Add to the XF/XC lenses also the Zeiss 12. 32 and 50 lenses + the various Fuji X Samyang lenses and a few more brands that offer Fuji-X mount lenses and I’d say that, after just three years, X-shooters have a pretty decent lens-option (but where are Sigma & Tamron?)

But X-shooters are hungry for more. In fact, over at the FR- facebook page, many of them expressed their “lens wish-list” in order to complete the lineup: an XF 16mm f2.8 tilt-shift, an XF 135mm f/2.8, an XF 56mm f/1.2 with OIS, an XF 8-16mm f/4 ultra wide angle zoom, a fish-eye lens… or what about an XF 105mm f2.8 1:1 macro lens?

Whatever you are still missing, today you can let Fujifilm know which lenses you would like to see coming in 2015/2016.

THE RULE IS: please express just 2 preferences of future X-mount lenses… I know, it’s hard, but I want you to suffer a bit ;).

So, the comments are open… later on I’ll sum them up into a lens-master-poll! And feel free to continue to vote the “favorite lens” poll.

  1. 27mm F2.0…non pancake (but not too big), but it has to be DAMN FAST at focusing (not like the existing one that always goes all the way in both directions before stopping.
XF 35f/1.4 updated for focus speed

        1. lol. 🙂 Hey, if you want to take a practitioner of fine craftsmanship, creativity, science, art and narrative and reduce it what sounds like a Beavis and Butthead catch-phrase, be my guest – but don’t wonder when people don’t take you much less seriously.

          1. It actually was an expression of laughing, and not condescension – and I’m never passive aggressive; I’m always actively aggressive when I’m aggressive.

And nothing is more lacking of emotional intelligence than defensive posts that intentionally attempt to goad the other participant by repeating something that was the initial point of contention. Are you going to whip out a “u mad bro?” next? Nice try.

  2. Aprox 70mm t/s for macro and portrait work
The T/S would allow for expanded DoF for macro as well as very shallow and selectively placed DoF for portraits.
This would also be an ideal lens for product photography because the shift could be combined with tilt for DoF as well as keeping the distortion to a minimum when shooting products. Further expanding the professional capabilities of the system.
Ideally as well it would be great to see a lens or two with an incorporated leaf shutter with at least 1/500 capability to allow high speed sync with studio flashes and non TTL flashes. Similar to the Pentax LS lenses for the Pentax 67 system.

  3. Once the 90/2 is out, I don’t need any more lenses. What I’d like Fuji to do (after they finish building out the current roadmap) is refresh the existing lineup to do something about the slow, noisy AF. The 60 is useless, the 35 is terrible, and even the relatively recent 56/1.2 is embarrassing to use in quiet situations.

In the meantime… could we please get a somewhat-less-antiquated flash system, fer cryin’ out loud?!?

    1. Holding out for the Nissin i40 right now. These rebranded Sunpak flashes Fuji sells are junk (compared to what I was accustomed to when I was a Canon shooter).

  4. A new 18mm much better opticaly, fast (1.8) and with a size just a little bigger that the actual 18f2
a tiny 60-70 f/2 not macro but small and with fast focusing
    a 105 f/2

  5. I see several commenters have the same desire I do: some small, not super fast primes, e.g. 23/2 and 35/2 (even make them 2.8 if it means they can be really tiny). I’d also like them to be fast focussing, and to have aperture rings.

      1. True, but as someone buying into the interchangeable X system, I have no desire to shell out that sort of money for an entirely new camera just to get the lens. But I think you’re right, Fuji won’t compete with themselves, and that’s smart.

  6. Disqus ate my first try, it seems.

    I’d like to see a 135mm f/2, and a long f/2.8 1:1 OIS macro: 105mm or 150mm. A 300 f/4 OIS would be lovely.

And, a firmware update to fix some the system’s more questionable flash decisions.

    1. exactly what is missing in my opinion too! (and as wildlife and macro photographer GPS in the bodys would be awesome too)

  7. a real macro lens (105mm f/2.8 OIS) 1:1. And put some GPS in the new models. (Camera not lenses ;)) Both me and my girlfriend would switch immediately!

  8. Some longer primes and a 1:1 macro would round the system out nicely…
    135mm f2.0 OIS
    200mm f2.8 OIS
    120mm f2.8 1:1 macro

  9. Guess there are only two things really missing:
a 1:1 macro (105mm or longer would be fine)
some really long once (400mm, but the 140-400 could be fine too, even if I prefer primes)

  10. The roadmap includes a 14mm f/2.8, a 16mm f/1.4, and an 18mm f/2. So clearly Fuji needs to add a 15mm f/2 and a 17mm f/1.7…

  11. The only thing that’s holding me back from switching to fuji, is the missing 1:1 Macro (about ~105mm)
btw: an integrated GPS would be awesome!

    1. Typically, you shoot Macro using manual focus, so just get an adapter for an existing macro lens you may have now (I have the Nikon 200mm f/4 and the adapter, its brilliant)

      1. That’s true BUT:
        1. why use a (big and heavy) lens designed for FF dslrs, if Fuji could probably make it a little bit smaller and lighter
        2. I’d loose the ~3 stops IS on the Sigma I use right now.
        3. From time to time you just need the AF

        1. Some of the traditional macros aren’t very big – The Nikon 105mm is actually quite compact.

Using Image stabilization w/ macro isn’t a good idea – generally you will lose image quality. and you should never use image stabilization when on a tripod.

Not sure what you are shooting, but I’ve never used AF on macro.

Not saying that a good macro wouldn’t be a nice addition to the FujiX lineup, I think it would, but if that’s the ONLY reason you are avoiding an amazing camera system, I think it’s a really small barrier when there are solutions available.

          1. When it’s possible I use a tripod ofc. But trying to get photos of insects like dragonflies (especially when you are somewhere in the tropes) you have to do it without tripod. And for biological classification you often use high aperture numbers (no time for stacking), so you learn to love the image stabilization. (I do not kill or freeze animals for photographs, that’s just not my style)

Other reasons why I am still not in the Fuji system (tried my Sigma 105mm adapted to my bfs X-E2) is, that I’d love to have GPS integrated (not a must have, but would be a big plus) and most important: wildlife capabilities (140-400mm seems to be coming, and I guess AF in general will only get better with the next gen of Fuji cameras)

          2. what i’ve seen and heard (firmware updates & co) it sounds like fuji is the most customer-listening company. i’m really looking forward to the upcoming lineup! 🙂

      2. I can do without AF, and even OIS, but I want aperture control from the camera and EXIF data. I have used adapted lenses and didn’t that much like it. I want a great native-mount macro, and longer than the Zeiss, at least 60mm, 90 would be even better.

  12. Wish you would have put the Zeiss lenses on the poll, I love the Zeiss 12mm – its one of my fav. lenses.

My wish would be for a long fast zoom, an 70-200 f.2,8 OIS – it will be big, but worth it.

    and perhaps a really long tele-zoom (300-400mm f5.6) – you know, for all the safaris I wish I went on… 😉

    1. I agree with the 23 and 56, but the 14mm is pretty small – not that much bigger than the 35. It also has only a 58mm filter thread, which is pretty impressive for a lens with 90 degree fov and all that optical correction.

  13. – a small, compact and relatively cheap 23 2.0 (albeit i guess that won´t come, fuji doesn´t want to canibalise their own x100 lineup)

    – a redone 35 1.4 with better af and better coating, that thing looses contrast like its from the 1950th when you point it against the sun

  14. I would like a XF 16-35 or 18-35 like the Sigma Art, but not as big as the Sigma. Maybe a constant f/2 or f/2.8 if that’s technically doabl while keeping it small.

  15. For me:
    – 300mm F4 OIS (if it can be made measerable smaller than 140-400)
    – 8 or 10mm F5.6 (very comapact)
    – 120mm F4 macro (sharp from the get go, OIS would be nice)

    1. – a 55-135mm f/2.8-4 or f/4, without OIS to keep it small, lightweight and sharp
      – a long slow macro lens, indeed a 120mm f/4 macro could do the job

  16. more votes for:
Revised 35mm f1.4 with faster and quieter AF, better coatings, and WR.
    1:1 macro, at least 105mm.
    300mm or 400mm f4 prime with OIS.

  17. If the scheduled XF 90 2.0 has 1:1 macro all my lens needs will have been met by the current and scheduled road map. If no macro option on the XF 90 then I would want between a 90’to 105mm 1:1 macro lens

  18. Lens Wishlist:
I am also looking for 1:1 Macro at least 90mm, better 105mm or 135mm f 2,8 or better would be perfect:-))
Next lens is a telezoom 140-400mm would be OK for me. Whole range f 2,8:-)))
All other fuji XF lenses I own already…..

  19. More WR zooms to fill out the “pro” zoom range:
    * An updated 10-24 f/4 WR with weather sealing
    * A 120-300 f/2.8 OIS WR, like the Sigma FF lens (could be built smaller for Fuji’s APS-C sensors)

    1. I second the 23/2.4 R, just wondering if it should be a little wider, around 20mm? We do have the 18 and 23.

Also, it should be a true compact pancake.

      1. Well, XF 23mm is 35mm in FF, and I would just like to have a smaller version of it. 35mm is best for street and overall lens and not so good for portraiture (so who needs f1.4 for this??)

20mm (30mm FF) would be some strange format…

  20. 90 to 105mm f2.8 1:1 macro – currently using a Nikon 60mm and 105mm with a Novoflex converter, excellent lenses but would love to ditch the weight for an equivalent native XF lens – WR preferred but not a deal breaker. Internal focusing would be great as well.

  21. I know this is about lenses, but I want to echo those folks saying to devote some energy to updating the flash system. Coming from Sony’s (well, Minolta’s actually) rather sophisticated flash lineup, including some pretty intelligent wireless flash, I feel like I’ve taken a step backwards here. With the new wireless technologies now, maybe they can implement a non-strobing trigger system and make it native to their flashes…

    1. But for the lenses, my vote is some more WR updates (and focus speed improvements) to existing lenses. I live in Portland and we kinda need the water protection. 😉

  22. If they made a 16-90 with a constant F4(or faster, so long as it’s constant), I’d be really into that. A 35/1.4 with more confident AF would be nice, but the current one is plenty usable. A Tilt shift macro in the 60-90 range would tick a lot of boxes. If they re-released the whole current line with weather sealing and didn’t change anything else, that would still rule.

    1. Actually, a complete set of 12mm, 16mm, 20mm, 40mm and 60mm tilt shift lenses & a 50-140 f4 lens would solidify fujifilms ambitions to provide a fully grown professional system. Add a couple primes like 300mm 2.8 and 400mm f4 or 2.8 and we are done

  23. 70-300mm 4-5.6 OIS (like tamron/nikon/…) as a cheap option for the hobby animal shooter. Not much bigger than 55-200, otherwise the aperture can be smaller.

18-35mm 2.0 (like sigma art) with compact size.

    ~100mm macro 1:1

better 35mm: shorter, faster and silent AF, with 58mm filter thread and zone focus markings. also a better looking lens hood… 😉

    1. Yeh I actually rebought the Canon 70-300 IS USM again for handheld boat work with a 7D – the AF on my 55-200 & XE-1 doesn’t cut it and a tripod/gimbal on a boat is beyong my capabilities. Stopped at 6.3 its a cracking bit of kit – although like I’ve said elsewhere I can’t get jpeg’s out of any of my Canons looking as great with PP.

  24. I only need a 35 f1 (It is fast and the dof is not as shalow as full-frame) If fuji can make a decent 56 f1.2 it is for sure they can make a decent 35 f1 too , so , for the love of god bring it on…

  25. A compact, wide angle, high quality (F2 or above is still fine) pancake.

Something around 20mm F2.0 or somewhere near… There is a 23mm, but too large.

  26. Well we are not going to see anymore compact primes like the 27mm because the top liked lenses are the biggest…

  27. Fuji needs super-tele lenses. I loved having the Canon 400/5.6 L when starting wildlife and loved the 500/4 even more. I’m hoping the 140-400/4-5.6 will be good but for wildlife you will mostly use the long end so I’d rather have a 400/4 that would take an 1.4x TC without too much hit on AF or image quality. The wide end is becomming pretty good and actually great with the Samyang 12/2.

      1. Nope I used the 500/4 with 5D classic and 1Ds Mark II full frame cameras. The 1DsII+500/4 is the best body lens cobo I’ve used to date. It seems like Fuji is not too worried about the long end. I might buy a Sigma 150-600 and a cheap 1D Mark III to mount it on and use the Fuji for everything else.

  28. My favorite lenses are the 23 and 56, but I would trade them for smaller f/2 versions, even if the cost remained the same.

  29. For me its got to be the 140-400 although its dependant on AF speed. I love my XE-1 for landscapes/travel but at the moment its AF is not good enough for wildlife. If the 140-400 is good enough, along with the AF on either the XE-2 or XT-1 then I’ll probably plump for one – especially as by the time this gets released the bodies should be cheap, like the budgie. What I would also like is the 16-55 2.8 … but with OIS. The 18-55 is a superb bit of kit – but I’m not willing to trade off its smaller size for a non OIS 2.8. Its definitely a lens I’d keep even if the 16-55 2.8 does get OIS. I would envisage using the 140-400 with my existing gimbal set (just because of the 400mm focal length) – but it would be nice to finally ditch having to carry Canon bodies as well as a Fuji. I’d think seriously then about ditching Canon kit to fund an XT-1/2 as a second body and then use my 600 on a gimbal with an adaptor. But that’s for another day!

Thanks to the addition of the focus check in the XE-1 firmware though in certain conditions prefocus for Wildlife is very easy to achieve and I’ve got some cracking results with 55-200.

One thing I really appreciate is superb quality jpegs out of camera. Life is really too short for messing about with RAW conversion (I’ll probably get lynched for saying this). I love the fact that I can get that quality out of the camera.

  30. I’d like to see Fuji take a bold step and come out with a line of manual-focus prime XF lenses with aperture ring and distance scale. My dream mf lens would be a 27mm f/2… compact and relatively inexpensive. Then maybe a 35/1.2.

  31. I’d love to have 3 things:
    * a macro with 1:1. min 100mm
    * a 300mm or 400mm prime (f/4). I’d prefer the first one due to cost
    * a Teleconverter (1,4x)

    1. Love my 35mm f1.4 for pictures, but an update with silent/smooth focus for video would be awesome..make manual focus a priority and maybe add stabilization if possible for video.. I would be all over that! I really don’t want to have another camera for home video as currently Fuji’s are unusable.

  32. I would love to have small, light, compact lenses.
So my favorite would be a 23mm/2,8 R Pancake an second one a 50mm/2,0 R.

  33. Since I am a real fan of the 28mm focal length I’d wish for a high performance 18mm f/1.4. Other than that I think Fuji has an absolutely stunning lens portfolio with just a 1:1 macro missing. Exotic lenses like tilt/shift, large aperture telephoto primes or the like will probabyl come in the future. I came from Leica M and am really happy with my choice.

  34. I’d love some telephoto conversion lens option for the X100 series, say, to a 100mm or something so the camera with its near-silent shutter would become a viable option for concert and theater photography (obviously electronic shutter like on the X-T1 isn’t something you would want to shoot fast moving conductors, dancers and so on with).

Or, even better, a few leaf shutter lenses for X-mount, which would not only be as silent as an X100, but also allow high-speed flash sync. Or maybe even an X-Mount camera with a leaf shutter built in would be possible, don’t know if that is technically viable.

    1. I’d say aperture stops for fixed lenses and fixed aperture zooms. Vary aperture zoom markings are pointless. Well, it’s almost there as there is only one fixed aperture zoom with no markings. That’s 10-24.

  35. I love the 27mm focal length, but wish they had a made it an f/2 wiith an aperture ring. The size of the 18mm is great. It could even be a little bit larger, without drwaing my attention away.

I also would wish they had implemented OIS on the 56mm f/1.2 and 60mm f/2.4. Talking about the 56mm f/1.2. For me, it could be 56mm f/1.4 or f/1.8, with the size and weight reduction that would give.

For a walkaround lens the 18-55mm f/2.8-4 OIS is almost perfect. Though its a bit too narrow. My dream for a normal zoom would be an 16-70mm f/4 OIS. With a comparable size to the 18-55mm f/2.8-4 OIS..

  36. I’d go with a semi-pancake 70-ish f/2 that has some close focussing abilities. Also an MkII version of the 35mm with distance scale (a la 23mm) should be nice…

    1. You didn’t know? It’s rumored that the head of Fuji’s digital camera department, Yamaguchi Sotojiku, is the real master mind behind Fujirumors.

He has instructed a special task force of experienced Fuji product managers (all age 75+ [they live longer in Japan]) to do nothing else but scrolling through fujirumors’ discussion section, and looking for new ideas.

It’s actually rumored that every single comment is being tracked down, automatically grammar-checked, Google-translated, entered into a massive database and then researched for best market opportunity.

You can support this committed community of Fuji researchers (and secure their jobs!) by simply leaving as much comments as possible. But make sure to come up with some genuine ideas, not just another 35mm F1.4 Mkii, or a 23mm F2. That’s boring.

Try something like: 26mm F1.7, space-protected, hello-kitty version, or 58.5mm F1.6 (not too big, please), with APD and reverse light color shift protection system, just make something up.

Remember: they listen to each of us!!

  37. I would love a really wide angle like 12-14mm that’s at least an f2 or faster. I’ve been in several situations where I want something faster than 2.8 because my xe1 starts to get a lot of noise above 2500. I actually don’t mind manual focus either.

    1. Why ask for a lens that already exists?
Samyang already make a manual 12/2 for the X-mount.
Some even think it is sharper than the Zeiss Touit 12/2.8.
And it is quite cheap too!

  38. My preference would be to add 70-200 f4 OIS, and as was noted something like the Nikon 105 micro. Nice to have a 1.4 extender as well.

    1. The brilliant 55-200mm f3.5-4.8 will be the closest I imagine…Has OIS also. How would a 70-200mm be better than that…?

  39. I would also love a 23mm pancake (f2. I still wouldn’t sell my X100, but this would mean I could travel with one camera

    1. X100’s lens is longer than you may think. Half of it is hidden inside of the camera thanks to lack of lens interchange ability.

      1. Yes I saw a photo showing that. I would still be happy with it being longer with f2. Or even f2.4 or similar

  40. I’d like a 35mm f1.4 1:1 macro with an aperture ring and weather sealed. It could serve dual purposes.

I’d also like a longer 1:1 macro in the 60-90mm range that is weather sealed and which has a min focus distance of no more than 10 inches and which has an aperture ring. It should also have a focus limiter to prevent hunting when doing macro vs. Telephoto work. It could be f4 and sharp from the start vs. Less than f3 and not sharp and with unusable narrow DOF.

I also really hope the 16-55 2.8 WR has OIS.

    1. Sigma has an amazingly sharp 70mm/2.8 macro with focus limiter but they don’t do a Fuji mount for it (but apparently every other mount :P) . Maybe we lobby them rather than Fuji for faster results…?

      1. I agree lobbying sigma is a good idea. I have the 70mm macro in pentax mount and as you probably know it is one of the sharpest macro lenses tested by dxomark. I also have a pk to fx adapter but unfortunately not only does that lens have no aperture ring, I use auto focus a lot for macro so using it with an adapter is of little use to me even if I had an adapter with an aperture ring.

  41. A wide angle “super zoom” would be great. 14-60 preferably, 14-35 at least. Could be xc model, and a telescope lens. fast aperture not that important, but make it as small as possible.

      1. I agree. But you can’t take more than 2 shoots per month, otherwise the fish-eye effect gets absolutely boring.

    1. Fisheyes are very niche. Get the samyang/rokinon/bower and be happy. I highly doubt that fuji will ever make one for the X-Mount

  42. Hallo, i want buy the 55-120 2.8–4 OIS, must to be small, can be 3.2 – 4.5 also, important is the smallest size possible, the actual 55-200 is too much big.

    1. I concur! I’d like a something faster than the 55-200 currently available and smaller and less expensive than the new f2.8 zoom announced. Must be stabilized! I would want it to go to at least 150mm. That would be a highly used lens in my bag. A long fast tele with OIS would also be on my wish list.

      1. if you want something lighter, get the XC 50-230mm….You cant have light, fast, small zoom lenses unfortunately

        1. The 50-230mm is slower and has a longer range than the 55-200mm. I think nzswedespeed wants, like me, a faster lens with a shorter range, which is exactly the contrary. There is still room for this type of lens in Fuji’s lineup. 😉

    2. +1 for a small telezoom, something like a 55-135mm f/2.8-4 or f/4. No OIS for me, it would make the lens too big imho.

      1. Why do you everyone think the OIS makes the lens big? The XC zooms have OIS and they are very compact. Strong barrel construction and the search for optical excellence at large apertures make the lenses big, I would think…

        1. Not necessarily big, but bigger. And here I think it is critical. OIS is a controlled decentering, it needs a more complex optical formula to sustain this decentering, otherwise image quality suffers.

    3. +1! I am asking for the same. A small tele, something like 50-135 F4. And please, don’t quit aperture ring from lenses. I am disappointed not having it on my 27mm, which otherwise is a nice lens!

  43. A longer, proper, macro lens is really the biggest gap currently. And it MUST be stabilized. Canon’s 100 L IS is the perfect example; it’s brilliant on aps-c.

So my pick: a 90mm IS 1:1 macro. 100mm would be fine as well.

  44. While waiting for these lenses I gave the M42 mount a try and so far the rush for new lenses has died down….. Other than the telephoto zoom I’m good with my M42 50mm 1.4 135mm 2.5 and Helios 44-2. So much fun

    1. I used the L version on my 7d for a while, and i have to say that it was too tight for aps-c, you have to step back a good deal to get your shot

        1. To the previous replies: Can I point out that none of you know what kind of shooting Ion does? A 135 may be too long for what *you* usually shoot, but please don’t tell them that’s not the lens *they* want…

          1. You’re completely right Brian. I didn’t mean it to come across thay way, what I was meaning is that it may be a while or a lens like that may never come. M43 don’t have a 200mm equivalent – and canikon offerings cost a lot. Maybe an older manua focus 135mm Nixon ai lens could do the job – or the 50-140mm 2.8

          2. Nikkor 135/2 af d DC is fantastic! I’m using it’s smaller brother 105/2 DC via adapter. Feels like manual focus lens

  45. I’m an X-A1 shooter and wouldn’t mind the following lenses to complement my kit:
    – XC 8-16 f3.5-4.5
    – 23 2.0 pancake (aperture ring not needed, like the current 27 2.8)
    – 60 or 70 2.8 pancake-ish

Just make sure they are small, light, not too expensive (XC-line price range) and focus quick enough. Thanks in advance, good people of Fuji 🙂

  46. Would like to see some small-ish cheap-ish lenses.

Don’t mind cheaper apertures and builds, as the IQ on even the XF lenses are quite good….. just would appreciate some smaller zooms and a few more pancake-ish primes at a smaller price.

  47. XC 100/2.8 OIS
Very small, compact and lightweight, and affordable. It would become one of my most used lenses.

    XF 200/2.8 OIS WR
    Top Quality. Our 300/2.8 equivalent

      1. Or should it be 400 2.8? or maybe 500 2.8? But Kev probably meant what he wrote = 200 2.8. And to answer your other question, the XT-1 isn’t good enough to handle a long tele, you have to handle it yourself.

  48. 90mm f2.8 1:1 macro with focus limiter to prevent focus hunting (size substantially smaller than the upcoming 90mm)

23mm f2 pancake with aparture ring (size of 18mm)

  49. I am waiting for the 120-400 mm, as I have up to 200mm covered.

That said, a tilt-shift and a 1:1 macro lens at around 100mm would be great.

With that, however, they need to provide their own bare-bones raw converter, as all the great lenses are useless if the output is crippled by poor raw conversion support. Capture One is perhaps the best option available for external raw support, but it is still not as good as it could be…

  50. I have the 23/1.4 and I like it, but sometimes it’s just too big. A smaller 22 or 23mm
(f2.4 perhaps) would be very useful to me. A small lens, not pancake, would go
towards an excellent 3 prime kit – 14/22/56mm. The 14 and 35 are perfect for a
2 lens kit, and I make do with 14/23/56 when I want 3, but 2 big lenses out of
the three just makes it rather cumbersome for me. I would be happy to have two
lenses around the same FL, the big f1.4 when I need the fast aperture, and a
smaller lighter version for more general use.

  51. 100mm f2.8 macro… PLEASE. The 60mm is okay, but not 1:1. And longer would be great! To me this is one of the few true necessities still missing from Fuji’s lineup. And sorry, the Zeiss 50 doesn’t count. Fuji needs its own 1:1 macro.

  52. Smaller lenses than the new ones, personally I love the 35 mm, 14mm, 18mm sizes. I really like the 27mm too, but i really miss the aperture ring. They sould have made it like on the x100.
I would like a small zoom like the 50 230 but with less reach and more aperture (70-135 F4) and aperture ring.
I hope that the missing OIS on the 16 55 2.8 means… An IN BODY IMAGE STABILIZATION is coming!!! That will make Olympus managers cry like babies!

  53. I would want a 23 at f2.8 (pancake). The 27 is a little narrow and too expensive for being so much slower than the 23.
Second wish (actually first) is a budget portrait (like a 56 f1.8). The 60 2.4 is way too expensive compared to the much faster 56.
Entering the X-System for a student like myself would be wonderful but right now the cheapest way to get one camera with two 35 and 85 equivalent primes would cost at least 2000$. That’s just too much!

      1. Wow, that’s a really deep reply!
What if I like the Fuji cameras, the great IQ and colours, the fact that they listen to customers, and the control concept?

If you don’t have anything useful to say, why don’t you just keep it to yourself…

    1. I suggest you take advantage of the sales at Adorama, BH Photo, Pictureline and Amazon US to get the 23mm f/1.4 for $699US and buy a sharp, old inexpensive manual focus 55mm prime (years ago someone found me a Minolta SRT-101 kit at a yard sale with a 55mm f/1.7 and a 135mm f/3.5 – the 55 is sharp and with great color) and adapt it with a $30 fotodiox adapter for your telephoto work. I’m a student too. If you’re willing to risk ebay, I picked up an immaculate used X-Pro1 for $600US after getting the 35mm f/1.4 brand new from Adorama in March for $449US. The body is a UK model, so it’s grey market as far as Fuji US is concerned, but I’ve had no problems with it.

      1. Z,
You can find an X-E1 used in great condition for about $370, then with the lens sales now the 23mm f/1.4 for $699, then if you get a sharp Minolta or Olympus 55 it should be about $100 or likely less, plus the $30 fotodiox adapter. You can make it for under $1300US and still get everything you need. You can upgrade to the XF 56 f/1.2 later.

        Best of luck

  54. A cheaper, smaller and slower 23 or 24 mms, f/2, with aperture ring, as small as the 18 mms, and as cheap as the 18, and the 35 mms.

  55. Even though I don’t do macro work, I’d say a 70 or 75mm 1:1 macro is what is missing. In the meantime I suggest to everyone who needs 1:1 macro: get a 55mm 3.5 AI Micro Nikkor and extension tube and use an F to XF adapter.

From what’s on the roadmap, the 16mm f/1.4 has me most excited.

  56. 1) 140-400 (desperately needed for nature work!!!!)
    2) 100 macro 1:1
    3) 16/1.4
    4) 1.4 extender to be used with (1)

    Best,

  57. 1. A small light weight zoom to complement the 18-55 2.8-4. Something like 50-135 or a 50-200, with a focus on size and weight, and can give up OIS, WR, and even some speed in return. Would prefer this set-up to using the 18-135 alone, as it can be too big on the camera sometimes.
    2. A longer macro lens.

  58. A loud cry for a long macro lens. 105 would be minimum. No need for 2.8 that’s only useful for focusing in low light (personal opinion, of course)

The second one is the 140-400 OIS. The sooner the better!

I am not sure how long I can resist the temptation to go Nikon just for these two types of lenses.

  59. 1.) A long ~100mm f2.8 1:1 macro lens. This would easily provide our macro needs and steal competition from the Touit 50M.
2.) A 1.4x teleconverter for the upcoming 140-400mm (which I hope comes as soon as possibly and is f4-5.6 at the largest).

  60. I just thought of a really big gap in the system. Besides the macro lens, there is no long, fast lens, like the Canon 135mm f2.0 or the Olympus 75mm (150mm eq.) f1.8. I think fuji could pull off a 90mm f1.8 or even (in my dreams) an f1.4. If full frame can make an 85mm f1.2, I think Fuji could pull it off. It’d be a pro lens, so size wouldn’t be so much of an issue. It would complete a 16mm f1.4, 35mm f1.4, 90mm f1.4 lineup.

  61. For portraiture in the studio and outside I would like to see a 55-120 OIS ideally f3.5 or F4 shorter and lighter than current 50-140 or 55-200 lenses.
