Same sensor, same lens, almost same look… but the new electronic overlay in OVF is “a bloody brilliant feature!” Check out the video here.

wahahahah “cooler than a penguin’s appendage” KAI is GOLD
I am not telling it is not a good Camera, it is a great one indeed. But come on… New ovf, new camera? U are f…ing kidding me
Also new screen, improved EVF, wifi with remote shooting, body improvements like better buttons/dials etc. If you want more significant upgrades than that it’s really simple, you wait until next years model.
you don’t have to buy it:)
It’s more of a change than a new sensor.
It is new to those who buy it new
It is very disappointing that Fuji did not improve the AF with Phase détection all over the sensor and sensitivity of -4EV!
Yes, it’s the same 0EV… and unfortunatly the same IQ with the same 16MP sensor, so two main factors have not been improved. Dissapointed.
Seems the high iso performance has improved, presumably that means the sensor has changed slightly?
Watch samples on dpreview, high iso is not improved at all, and some other testers confim it – JPEGs suffers the same issues as X-100s, smearing, waxy skin, magneta/purple cast, foliage. Fujifilm did not even let the users to set NR to Off after such huge, hot and long users complains and requests to give them possibility to set NR to Off! Fujifilm is deaf. So, you get still better IQ that deliver ealier X-cams: X-100/X-Pro1/X-E1, no doubt.
From where should they take – and not steal?
(If Sony don’t give them.)
best features….i hope to see it, early in my x-pro1
Cool! No better time and place for a camera review!
Ignoring the camera for a second, it’s sort of sad that a simple tech review video gives a better impression of what’s going on in Hong Kong than what we typically see on the news in the rest of the world.
Yes, I was thinking the same myself.
indeed. I thought exactly the same thing.
Kai has been doing camera gear reviews from Hong Kong for years. He knows that city intimately, and has a connection to it that most of us can’t hope to match. For most of us this is just another news story, for him and his team this is daily reality. As always, excellent review Kai. Stay safe guys.
I really, really want to see that new OVF in an X-Pro 2. I’m still very satisfied with my X-Pro 1, so I can wait, but really. Seeing that excellent hybrid OVF in the X100T makes me all kinds of excited.
what’s ironic is that if Kai was shooting this in the US the cops would have arrested him.
I thought exactly the same thing.
hopefully Fujifilm will figure out video, a serious design fail, come on Fujifilm get the video down
With the little overlay inside the OVF they fixed my biggest issue with the camera. This is killer!
indeed. This makes it a true digital rangefinder-ish camera. Like Kai said, the T makes the X100 complete.
I thought AF speed was the same as XT1…..? Kai stated it was the same as X100S…..
As far as I remember, Fuji never claimed, that it was faster than on the X100s. Their marketing material just said “fast”, and the tech specs for AF were identical to those of the X100s. So it would have been surprising, if the X100T really was faster (after all, it’s still the same sensor and processor).
This is a major point for me. I thought the AF had additional features over and above the X100S, like multi target AF etc and therefore I assumed the overall AF specs would have been updated to the level of the XT1……
Quote from a dpreview with Toshihisa Iida, Senior Manager of Sales & Marketing in Fujifilm’s Optical Device & Electronic Imaging products division:
“Is the AF system in the X100T changed compared to the X100S?
It’s basically the same, but the algorithms have been a little changed.”
If you check the Fujifilm website all the AF specs are basically the same but they added AF tracking and multi targed AF. Early reviewers said that the AF feels a bit faster and accurate especially with the OVF.
The new features of the OVF are only relevant for manual focus, right?
yes, it is
No! I think it will be great to check that the camera actually focused on what I intended it to focus on. That was always my big complaint with the x-100 and x-pro1.
A web site that makes money when people buy cameras citing another retailer who makes money when people buy cameras.
i think Kai is cool enough to say what he really thinks, and not to say something just to push sales… just take a look about how bad he talked about the Nikon DF. Nikon must still be super angry with him. I mean, he’s Kai, not Ken Rockwell (who wrote that the X100T is the best camera on the market, without even holding it in his hands for a second!… so I didn’t link to him) or, well, you know the other guy too 😉
Kai is indeed cool enough. However, while very informative, I do take his words with a grain of salt.
And of course he is not KR. KR is pretty unique. I have never seen such a bad photographer (zero talent) before, who is so self confident at the same time. I have to admit though, that KR has tremendous skills in self promotion thru pure provocation and misinformation combined with useful information and clean, straightforward presentation. However, like Jared Polin said, KR is dangerous for photography, and I’m glad you dont link him at Fujirumors!
By the way, the video is a never seen before mix of camera review and political news.
Can’t wait to get my hands on the new X100T…
Yes I see Kai as more a nuanced movie reviewer rather than someone who does strict spec testing.
Love him for it. And Chris Niccolls too, from Camerastoretv
So, whats your point?
Whats wrong with a site that makes money when people buy cameras? Do you have a job? Does that mean your credibility is affected by the fact you get money for your work? Of course it may be the case. But as a generalised judgement per se? I think not!
Kai is just entertaining street shooter, fun to watch. Other than that, you probably won’t find much info.
