Attentive FR-reader Jacek (thanks) saw that Metz recently announced a new flash (also for Fuji), the mecablitz 26 AF-1 digital.
This is a welcome addition to the still sparse Flash offer for the Fuji X-system. Fuji itself offers the Fujifilm EF42, the Fujifilm EF-20 and the Fujifilm EF-X20 Shoe-Mount Flash. But, as you know Fujirumors sources say that Fuji is working on a new flash (with HSS).
Also, I remind you that the TIPA awarded Nissin i40 for Fuji-X will be released November.
Finally, more flash units are coming!

Fuji is going to need to update their sensors to take advantage of the AF assist beam capabilities.
fuji pls fix the AF flash system if not these goodies are useless
Admin where did you read that Fuji is working on flash with HSS? Emphasis on HSS. Again I believe HSS is a camera limitation first and not a flash limitation. In any case case can you link to any source that said that the new flash will have HSS? Thank you
Oh, I’ve read it in the text that a source send to me… so sorry, but I can’t share that (or give you access to my mail account)…. it’s “just” a rumor for now
HSS? Well, I agree with what Trenton said, when you made this question the last time ;)… HSS can be performed by flash alone
Actually HSS is a flash feature. With shutter speeds above the flash sync speed in a focal plane shutter, the sensor is never fully exposed because the rear curtain begins to close before the front curtain was fully opened. So the actual exposure happens in a small strip that moves from one side of the sensor to the other.
High Speed Synchronisation (HSS) refers to the flash’s ability to produce several smaller bursts of light during the exposure time, thus allowing to expose the whole sensor area despite the moving strip caused by the rear curtain following the front curtain. Leaf shutters (as in the X100) OTOH work differently and allow for much higher flash sync speeds without a special feature in the flash.
It’s the same as Leica new flash!
Curious on the price difference, be there there?
… will be there?
