According to an anonymous source with nick-name, who also previously shared the 56mm APD rumor with us (and the price of the 56 APD and 50-140), the X100T will feature an electronic shutter, which allows shutter speeds of 1/32,000!
The electronic shutter is also part of the X-T1 firmware update rumors shared here.
Everything this anonymous source with nick-name has told has still to be proven by facts, but if it’s true, then it will quickly be raised to the status of “trusted source”! So thanks A LOT for sharing… but for now, pardon me, we still have to take what you share with us cum grano salis.

Awesome.
I wonder how an electronic shutter would affect strobe flashes. Would it be similar to how a camera with a leaf shutter can sync at very high speeds?
what do you want 1/32,000 for? to freeze bullets?
to shoot at f/1.2 on a bright sunny day without filters 😉
f/1.2… because the electornic shutter will come also for the X-T1
wonder if the electronic shutter will allow for crazy fast flash Sync speeds…
Only if it is global. Wait, scratch that. Not necessarily global, just faster than the mechanical…
No it will definetely not allow HSS / fast flash syncs as Douglas Gottlibe above already mentioned sadly….
No need of ND-Filters using the 56mm at f1.2 🙂
Fuji X100Tweaked… same previous sensor, some features tweaked… Fuji said before that they won’t come up with another offering unless they have something new and revolutionary to offer, sensor wise… I’m still waiting…
they said that for the X-PRO2 😉
Are we talking about a first curtain electronic shutter?
Otherwise will it be global?
If that shutter speed really gets to the X-T1, I’ll forgive them for the light leak, disastrous buttons and useless back button focus “mode”.
eShutter has some cool applications and, of course, some caveats, at least in the Panasonic version I’ve used. The bad: strange banding at certain speeds under fluorescent light, weird “jello effect” distortion in stills for fast moving subjects, and sadly, not high speed flash like a leaf shutter. The good: super fast top speed for wide aperture daylight shooting and silent operation. Dead silent. Makes the X100s sound like that canon blast of a Sony A7 by comparison. 🙂 Of course, Fuji’s may differ. But this will be a cool option, if true.
Nikon d70 electronic shutter worked well with out jello artifacts and allowed a flash sync to 1/500s. Only issue that was an issue was occasional sensor blooming with very bright objects like the sun. I hope that Fiji takes the Nikon approach.
Good to know that it is possible. Thanks!
Faster shutter? Then it’d be sweet if Fuji gave the lens a wider aperture too.
And maybe the rumored APD coating for the X100T? let’s have all our grains of salt in the same glass at the same time, to see how it tastes 🙂
Increased iso competence makes sense. 1/8000 makes sense. But 1/32000 is for noone a requirement. In my FF camera, even with the fastest F1.4 lenses, I never had the feeling to require more than 1/8000. Again, the wrong focus unless you’re taking pictures of solar eclipses. 😉
