    1. Americans getting more money off camera stuff. Must be falling back to ‘developing country’ status. Oh well. Good luck with the economic recovery.

      1. am i reading it wrong? it looks like (for example) the 27mm has a $200 reimbursement, making the final price $250. i don’t see from the chart how it’s $250 off.

  1. Howdy Patrick…

I just bought the 23 1.4 from B&H, will they honor the new rebate or do I have to return it and buy it again?

Thanks for any info you might be able to provide.

    Justin

    1. From What I know ( not a US citizen but often hang around forums) they will. It has hapened before from what I remember reading and B&H has refunded the discount money, if they dont then you can always return it. Either ways, have fun with your new lens 🙂

    2. Yesterday returned a 35 mm after it arrived I bought on amazon, planning to buy on Canada or when the price at the US dropped. BTW tried to buy it from cameracanada, but couldn’t since they only accept US or canadian credit cards and no other internationar card :(… it was with a big discount, and free shipping (even I selected the express shipping), so instead of the 599 USD would have been 360 USD (if no taxes nor duty applied, which according to what I read was expected according to what I read, especially paying for the express/air shipping).

  2. Patrick it would be helpful if you put regular price of lenses next to rebate, because not everyone can remember the regular price for every lens.

    1. Ok, I’ve checked it… a flight to NY (there and back again) costs about € 450. If you get all lenses, it’s worth the weekend trip to NY 🙂

      1. I was just going to suggest the same thing! Probably German customs officers are already in training 😉

Kudos to Fuji for trying a bit harder (again) but at the same time …

        1. Kudos to Fuji for overpricing their gear, and only causing a sensation once they are forced to sell at more reasonable prices.

      2. But really, how come they (almost) never rebate anything in Europe? For me (Swedish), everything I buy in the US is about 30% off WITHOUT the rebate.

        1. on the other hand, amazon france is selling Sony A7 for 1180 Euros. Thats $1180 for a full frame camera. And we in the US have to pay 1700$ for it, plus tax, which is 10% in my state. So we don’t always win here on prices!

        2. Thats a pretty good question. Because they think they can get away with it …

Let me tell you this, if they had released the 27mm at 300€ rather than 450€, and they are selling now at discount 200€ in the US … I would own a lot more Fuji lens than I do now! A little bit of honest pricing would serve Fuji well.

As it stands I went out and spent a LOT more money on Leica lenses because at least there you know where you stand. Same goes for the X-M1, instead of an honest price it was a joke as the A1 price showed, so I sold my 35mm XF and got something else (Ricoh GR).

Fuji and the rest are taking us for a ride AFAICS

    2. No, only those fortunate enough to be in the EU. I pay about the same prices in Switzerland as I do in the USA (live in both countries). A D800 when it was first out, cost me 8% less in Switzerland than Amazon or B&H were charging. Fuji usually has an up change but less than 10%. For deals, don’t know as I never seem to be buying when discounts occur.

Many of our EU house guests always seem to go home with new Apple gear and cameras. Leaving me with a load of empty boxes to get rid of. As compensation, I get a new camera strap of my spec in exchange for my old ratty looking ones.

      1. No, he should buy the 27mm because it is an excellent lens that is compact, easy to use, and takes almost no space in a camera bag. And with 1:1 framing, it gives a field of view similar to the square Rolleiflex frame.

    1. Completely agree Don. I have everything but the 27. I’m buying that one now. No issues paying full price for the 56. The 23 is a great lens and worth what I paid for it.
A friend of mine has the 27mm. At $250 off it’s a steal.

    2. At 27mm, the 18-55mm Fuji zoom hits a max aperture of 3.2. Other than size, I see no reason to get the 27mm if you already have the kit zoom, as there’s so little gain in speed.

The 23mm and 35mm however is a different story.

      1. When you consider the zoom is stabilized it makes the aperture difference even less important for handheld shots. So unless you just want the smallest possible lens there isn’t a compelling reason to get the 27mm.

        1. Yes, it is just for size, at least for me. With the 27mm attached I can fit the xe-2 easily into my jacket pocket. That’s a big deal to me.

      2. I read on amazon reviews that it is actually not as sharp as 18-55 at 27mm either. So you are buying a mediocre lens because it is cheap and yes it is only $199.

        1. The 27mm is a very good lens. It’s not quite as good as the 23 or 35, but it’s quite sharp across the frame, has good color and contrast and is very, very small, making it an excellent pairing to the X-M1 and X-A1. In my experience it’s at least as sharp as the 18-55 at 27mm, if not sharper…but it’s a whole lot smaller, and that’s the point. I liked it when I reviewed it this past fall, but didn’t pick one up…but I’ve been thinking about getting one for use with my X-M1 for times I want high image quality in a very small package. At this price it’s a no brainier.

      1. I just looked at my XE2 and imagined a 27 pancake on it…. i dont know, i dont believe it becomes pocketable even with a 27, it is just too large overall to be pocketable. If that is true, then why would I need a 27, I already have a 23 and a 35. Now if I had XA1 for example which is really small, it might have been different.

        1. Let me put it in the perspective of other Canon’s pancakes:

          – Canon EF-40mm f/2.8 is only $199
          – Canon EF-M 22mm f/2 STM Lens is $99

Does it mean you should buy?

  3. to me it looks like 27/2.8, although it is not a well reviewed lens (about 3.5 stars out of 5 on amazon) is the best deal at $179, meaning that if you own a smallest Fuji X body like XM1 or XA1 and want to be able to pocket it, that combo would allow you a pocketable solution for large pockets at just $179 for that lens.

    1. Are you really basing your purchases on reviews from Amazon? The 27mm lens has great reviews from reputable websites that are testing product professionally. It’s a great little lens and with it on my X-E1 I can fit it in my pocket. try doing that with any other Fuji lens! Well worth the $199.

  4. Information is correct. I just preordered the T1 and bought a used E1 together with a new 18mm. The lens had a 200.- € discount.
    Town of purchase: Hanover, Germany

Now I just hope I will get it right on time for the GPP. Anyone in for a drink at the Vista? 😉

      1. Well, sometimes you just have to ask and being the charming person which I am… 😉
Foto Haas is my first choice for cameras and yes, lens only.

  5. I’m happy with my lenses already, 14, 18-55, 60, 55-200. Can’t imagine getting much use out of the other available ones. But if they made a 90 or 105 1:1 macro then I’d get it as long as it wasn’t too expensive. Same with their potential, theoretical, rumored 120-400.

  6. How is the 27? I know it’s a slower lens but that’s a nice price and it’s compact too. Though if I do get the 23 and the 35 then a 27 might be too close to the 23 to be really practical, no matter how cheap it is.

    1. The major difference between the 23 and the 27 is portability. The latter is generally a better match for street shooting, especially with a smaller bodied camera.

  7. I combined the prices of the US and Canadian Fuji xf lens discounts into one thread. Only the xf 27mm and the xf 60mm are cheaper in the US given the instant rebate. The rest of the lenses are cheaper from Canada + 10% CAD to USD currency conversion. If you’re thinking about getting the xf 23mm or the xf 35mm definitely go with the Canadian sellers for an extra $50 off instant rebate + currency conversion.

    1. That’s true but also remember that where you get the lens from will have that country’s warranty. Shipping costs also will have an effect on the final price. That being said the only Fuji item I’ve sent for warranty has been a flash

  8. The info indicates pricing on the X-T1 body from the last week of February. Does that mean the camera will be available for sale at that time?

  9. Perfect timing! I had planned to pick up a 55-200mm next week. At these prices I will now be ordering the 55-200mm plus the 27mm & 60mm at the same time!

  10. I hate the fact that the X100s doesnt have rebates! DigiReview is selling it at $1049 (basically $250 off) but since it comes from japan its considered gray market. Anyone has experience with gray market products, or DigiReview store?

  11. So why does a low end lens like the 27mm get the biggest discount, 55% rebate, over half off, while a lens that has been around a while, 35mm f1/4 get the lowest rebate, only 25% of $150. I was planning on buying the 35mm if the rebates were as good as Canada, $200 off that lens. I can see why the 23mm has a low rebate, it is new. Well. maybe I will save $50 and buy from Canada or just pass. I want it but do not need it.

    1. The logic is that once you buy the good stuff, you wont have the need to buy cheap stuff, while if you buy cheap stuff you always have room to upgrade. From the manufacture’s pnt of view, they give you incentives to buy the not so good stuff by offering bigger discounts because they know there is a high chance you will eventually spend more money on buying the best lenses. They dont give you as much insentives to get the best lenses because once you get the best, you are not gonna spend more on other crapier lenses.
Basically, the really good stuff has to be priced really high, not just because it costs more to produce, but specially because if everyone can afford great products, they will have an hard time selling not so great products.

      1. Likely also has to do with sales numbers. The 27mm probably isn’t very popular so they give the bigger discount to entice people to buy it.

    2. Probably has more to do with current inventory and anticipated future sales. For instance, the 55-200 is a very nice lens but gets a big ($200) rebate. Why? I suspect it’s because two of the upcoming WR lenses (50-140 & 18-135) should eat into its sales big time. Plus the 60 gets the biggest rebate because the 56 just made it ice cold. The 23 & 35 don’t need anymore than a nudge. They’re the best lenses, with the smallest rebates. Me, I figure the 55-200 at $500 is right in the sweet spot, so that’s what I’m waiting for.

  12. Sorry can;t quite make sense of the chart. I am after a 27mm. Was does the black numbers and green numbers mean? Thanks in advance

    1. It’s a dealer IR chart. Customer gets a $100 rebate. Dealer gets reimbursed $80 from Fuji. Not quite fair to the dealer is it? Nikon is worse, they reimburse only 70% to the dealer.

  13. Im really tempted to pull the trigger with the 23mm.. But I can either afford the 23mm or save more and purchase the 16-55. im gonna wait for the 16-55, yeah I loose 2 stops of light but Its a lot more versatile.

  14. OK, I don’t see any mention of lower prices, instant rebates or rebates in general on the B&H site for the lenses. Does that mean that the lenses aren’t on rebate until the 9th?

I really want the 23, but for a travel set up the 27, especially for a couple of hundred bucks is almost too good to pass up. The question is do I go with a Pro1 or and XE-1. The XE-1 would be pretty sweet at $599 and then I can see if I like the XT over the Pro1 or wait to see when the Pro2 might break (and then maybe even buy a Pro1 as the prices drop).

  15. This is great that the prices are coming down to earth at a more reasonable level, and hopefully Fuji can at last start to expand its market. I’m betting there will be even better black friday rebates this November, after another year of disappointing sales. Hopefully the X-E2 will drop yet another couple hundred, and certainly the XT1 will be a couple hundred off by then. Saving my money.

  16. Thanks Patrick for this nice piece of info.

Btw, X30 was rumored to be coming in Feb./March. Is there any further info. or specs. about X30?

    1. the discount on the x20 ends 1st march, should we expect the x30 to come right after that date? i really hope so, to me that camera kills the competition thanks to one single neat feature: mechanical zoom!
i want a compact camera for travelling, but -coming from dslr- i won’t ever again stand zooming with a jog dial…

        1. sorry, maybe i expressed myself wrong.
i’m not interested in sales number, i just said what feature i like.
i’d like a compact camera, but i will never buy one with a zoom jog dial, as simple as that.

          1. I also like the mechanical zoom and hopefully a larger sensor & more accurate viewfinder for the X30.

That should give a wonderful experience in shooting.

    1. I paid, well my wife paid $899+tax for 23/1.4 for me not long ago and that lens will be $750 in few days. This really makes me want to cancel my 56/1.2 preorder. Why pay a $1000 for a lens that would probably be $800 in two months from the release date? I am seriously thinking to cancel preorder.
