X-E2: “Worlds fastest AF? A bold claim, but it feels every bit as fast as its top rivals” (camera.reviewed)

 photo asd_zps56b9cfdf.jpg

.
Now, how fast is the AF of the X-E2 really? Fujifilm claims an AF speed of 0.08 seconds. We’ll have to wait for comprehensive reviews where the camera will be thoroughly tested under all possible shooting conditions. In the meantime click here to read cameras.reviewed first impressions.

” – “World’s fastest autofocus speed” is a bold claim, but in our hands the X-E2 certainly felt every bit as fast as its top rivals.

[…] While the X-E2 isn’t exactly a revolutionary product, it’s further evidence that Fujifilm is listening to its fans. Without the juggernaut brand power of some of its Japanese brethren, Fuji is focusing on getting the little things right and hoping that consumers will respond.

    1. Even if it’s faster than Micro 4/3 system would be enough, but I have doubts about that.
Anyway X-E2 might be a good upgrade from X-E1 due to better EVF, new AF-C, faster CPU and overall speed.

        1. Take it with grain of salt – “wolrd’s fastest MILC with 14mm/2.8 in central-zone focusing” 🙂
Anyway, with latest firmware I don’t have a lot of complaints about AF-speed – but EVF lags just pisses me off, and also SD-write speed pretty bad even with fast cards, and overall system speed too.
Hybrid AF-C is very nice to have too!

    2. If you look at the small print, it refers only to mirror less cameras, so it does not include DSLRs. It’s the same claim they made for the x100s, which is quite fast, but not as fast as a decent DSLR.

  1. Partrick, or anyone else out there….can you confirm that my current X-E1 Really Right Stuff L bracket will work with the X-E2. Has the body changed at all? If it can, this will be the best camera upgrade of all time. Same accessories, same batteries, well done FUJI!

    Thanks!

    Justin

    1. Yes, I’m interested in knowing this, too.

It looks like the bottom flange to the LCD screen has grown just a bit. However, the RRS plate has a bit of clearance from the flange on the X-E1. It looks like it will be very close…

  2. as I tried it out for a few minutes at Fuji film show room here,I felt it very very fast and pretty accurate for almost all sort of apps, even in lowlight. it felt a bit faster than my D800E + say likes of 24-120f4mmGVR lens or AF-S85mmf1.4G, but a bit slower than my D800E + 70-200mmf2.8GVR2.
so over all , it was pretty good and reliable, quite promising, but I am not sure how well it tracks moving people or animals in real life.
